After reading that thread, what else, specifically, do you want to know?

The suburbs aren't that different from Calgary or Edmonton - weatherwise it's often warmer than both, at least in spring, summer & autumn. It's a multicultural city with the longest heritage on the prairies. It's also got the largest francophone community outside Quebec, which gives St Boniface it's own unique character.
The people I work with in Winnipeg like it a lot, both native Peggers and immigrants - from what I gather it's a friendly city and a good place to raise kids - again, not that different from the other prairie cities.
The only downside for me is that it lacks mountains, but on the plus side, it's got Lake Winnipeg, which is virtually an inland sea - something you won't find in Alberta.
And the mosquitoes aren't too bad either in comparison to Alberta & Ontario ... but ... as always, someone will disagree

I know it's pathetic to reply to yourself, but ...
Lake Winnipeg is 3.7% of Manitoba's surface and its surface area is 23750 square kms - that's half the size of the Red Sea and lots bigger than the Dead Sea ...
