Question Why Sydney????

1) why did you dicide on Sydney?
2) how long have you been here?
3) do you intend on moving north later?

Planned on Melbourne - now been in Sydney three years cause of job transfer.

Could not think of living elsewhere for now. Though hubby dreams of retiring somewhere hotter I like the temps here - but could do with more insulation and central heating for winter!

We haven't moved yet..but have our one way flight from Manchester to Sydney booked for the 1st June.

Reasons for choosing Sydney....the beaches, the harbour, the weather, the job opportunities and the beer.

Would consider moving North at a later stage, but would have to get to grips with the Sydney climate first.

Pleeeeease don't close Sydney! We're on our way, or at least, we will be when the house sells!

Have chosen Sydney to be near relatives but who knows what the future will bring!

1) Been to all Oz capital cities and found Sydney had everything we could want. Plus jobs.
2) 1 year anniversary just passed (this time).
3) No, but so many mates have in the last year, it's not funny. Everyone goes for the cheaper housing I think.

Got a job here on the WHV and met the wonderful lady who became my wife. Spent a year in 97/98 and came back in 2002. No intentions on moving to the melanoma state. Sydney has the city life that I am after plus some brilliant beaches. Anyone wanting the easylife with cheap housing and to escape traffic should look elsewhere.

Many a Sydney politician wants the city closed to new migrants because of the strains on the infrastructure.

I LUUUUUUUUUVVVVVVVVVVV Sydney worked and lived there for 6 months in 94 , but would not live there too expensive and the way that homes are built in to the bush is lovely till it catches fire !!!
Still its a great city lots of fun great people n beaches shops etc.

1) Was where the lady used to live, has more jobs, has some nightlife, lovely beaches on my doorstop, great climate etc
2) Since Jan last year.
3) Only as far as Byron! - Not really Unlikely the weather here is lovely never to hot never to cold not too humid. Been to Brissie a couple of times Its too hot and humid and not really a happening city!(apologise to those there!). Would consider moving south down to Melbourne.

1) Its where the best job opportunities are for professionals
2) Studied there in '97. Moving back for good later this year
3) No way, but maybe South some day- we love the Victorian coast.
4) liked the lower N. shore (lived in Kirribili) but haven't lived enough other places in Sydney to argue yet.

Question for you Soapy: how easy is it to commute to CBD from Maroubra/Coogee areas w/o a car? We are looking at various areas now & I noticed some good deals in Maroubra area but we don't want to have to buy a car right away. Any comments by anyone would be appreciated. Thanks.

1. First glimpse of the harbour through the jacarandas (it was November) was all it took to convince me that Sydney would do me nicely.

2. 25 years and 2 months (less 2.5 years in Canberra, mid-80's)

3. No. If for some reason I couldn't live here, I'd move to Melbourne.

Superior[ity complex] - is there a reason you frequent these boards? Seems to me you are neither a British Expat, nor do you have any interest in helping anyone who is? Are you a one-man anti-immigration campaign?
