The sad thing is, most of these 'less fortunate' ones are the ones you just cant be bothered and live on the 40% tax the goverment takes off us every month.
and yes that WINDS ME UP :curse:
So if i had the choice of course i wouldnt give them ONE PENNY. and i am not ashamed to admit it.
I think most of us would help genuinely needy people, its the wasters and scroungers i can't stand, people who reckon they can't feed and clothe their kids but still manage to buy 20 fags a day a a few tinnies to get them through watching jeremy kyle. The people that think e all owe them when they've not paid anything into the system at all.

As to your assertion that it is those with money emigrating - I don't actually think that's the case, I have read many tell of the poor life they have in the UK and the reasons they are looking to move abroard is to better their prospects - (I do wonder how they go on I must say), equally there are many others who are buying abroard as an investment which will wipe it's own feet - misguided fools IMO.

I am by no measure a socilist but do think I and others in well paid jobs should provide for the less fortunate in society - though accept being a "less fortunate" is, in some cases, becoming a career choice.

Thanks for your concern as to my employment status, and yes, I do enjoy, what I regard as, a comfortable financial status - early forties, next to no mortgage, no loans, have a gym & private golf club membership, two season tickets for Man City & a pension fund approching £500,000 - can't quite stretch to an AMG SLK and a lake in the back garden but fairly happy with my lot.
So another question ?
Why on earth are you on a Expat site then ? your happy in Uk love being taxed and love paying over the top for everything ..?

You puzzle me ?

If your happy you should stay put , after all the country will need a few with money to fill the Governments spending costs , specially when the revenue from fags drys up and the balance between the workers and the looking for work widens So you stay i will go and can rest on the sun terrace knowing that you are funding my government pension when it kicks in ,in the far future

Food safety
Trading standards
Parking control
Graffiti removal
Road and bridge repairs
Trees
Cycle routes
Social Care & Health
Child protection
Schools
school meals
births & deaths
rights of way
etc

.. are all paid for by the fairies and have nothing to do with council tax whatsoever.

Lets go through the list ;

Street sweeping !! Never been done on my road ..
Street Lighting !! My road has 1 light in 6 lit occasionaly ..
Street signs !! If Traffic then comes out of Road tax..
Traffic Lights !! Road tax cover them
Pedestrian Crossings !! lol scratching a bit here ..
Pavement repair !! probably equates to 20p or 10cents per house
Parks and gardens !! we have 1 park and it has old knackered slide and
swings and has a value of about £ 150 lol
Police !! yep fair comment on this one ..
Fire Brigade !! yep may need them but 2 engines per town is norm
Library !! 1 per town max and not needed with internet ..
Leisure sports facilities Dont have them and towns that do pay on entry.
Licensing !! Not applicable in UK .
Planning Dept !! Self funded they charge for everything .
Graffiti removal !! 1 man full time job = 5p per house a year lol
Listed Buildings !! lol another filler
Health - Noise control
Food control etc !! The local council here employs approx 2 per dept.
Parking Control !! Every town has Pay and Display and makes a mint .
Road and Bridges !! erm thats why we pay excessive Car Road Taxes .
Trees !! They grow from cuttings and covered already .
Cycle Routes !! What cycle routes they use the roads lol
Social Care and health ! erm thicko covered under NI contributions ..
Schools !! yes a few schools ,now days buy own books ..
School meals !! They pay for them and ask Jamie Oliver lol
Births and deaths !! Paid for as used ..
Rights of way !! Covered under planning ..

Think you must agree that we dont really get much for the money paid in do we ? And whilst i see what you hoped to show ..

It has indeed proved we are severely over charged and if you then add the VAT the PAYE the NI contributions etc etc ..

If you did the job as i have and sit down and work out how much you pay in some tax or other it will scare the crap out of you !!!! well not you you dont live here obviously and are one of the Yanks or Aussies who seem to have this mentality that the UK is paradise

I also add yet again if you arent involved in Spain in any way , do not post on MY thread thanks

As entertaining as your posts are mate, from what I understand you gave up your "rights" when you broke the contract between you and the council.

Or have I misunderstood?

You don't have to sign anything any more for it to be a contract between you and a gov agency.

That you have accepted their terms qualifies for a contract.
