PR cards - Where are they?
#16
Hi Lorrden
Hope you are well, just been thinking ( not like me
) if we could some how check either online or via a phone call if CIC have started to process our PR cards and what if any stage they have reached or if they are simply sat in a pile of other new PR card applications waiting for 'new' photos.
Any thoughts ?

Hi Joinerboy, that would be an idea, but you would think that if there was a problem with photos etc then they would have been in touch by now!
will give it another week and then if I have still not heard anything, then will try and contact them. Hope you are enjoying the sunshine!

Landed on 25th March 2010 in Vancouver used a mailing forwarding address. No sign of the cards yet. Wondering if I should phone them? Getting worried

Just got word from Edmonton that the other 3 PR cards arrived today and that UPS will be collecting tomorrow.

We had to make 4 phone calls before they sent OH a letter requesting new photos which resulted in 1 PR card, then we called about 3-4 more times to get the same letter for me!!
Think there's a deadline that the cards must be issued by (6 months after landing???) so it's worth calling them sooner rather than later.

Yours are well overdue. Did you provide a street address in Canada? It is nearly certain that something was mailed to you regarding the cards. If not then try the 1-800 number when you get back to Canada and explain your situation.

is it 1-800-622-6232, am i completely wrong or should my pr cards be part of the immigration process as listed on wikipedia see below.
ive searched the cic website to see if this is correct or if i have to apply seperately, but we were told by the immigration officer at calgary airport that our pr cards should arrive in 12-16 weeks, then told again by the london office not to worry as these things take time,i gave a canadian address at time of landing, but the only thing we got sent through was a free language course offer which came in an official canadian immigration envelope with important information enclosed stamped on the front, our friend in canada, sent it over to us via ups at a cost of $65, quite expensive for a flyer advertising a free english language course i think, but that was my fault for not asking her to open the letter to check,
thanks for any help or advice anyone can give,
les
[edit] New permanent residents
Permanent residents arriving in Canada on or after 28 June 2002 apply for a Permanent Resident Card as part of the landing process.
It is necessary to supply a Canadian residential address at the time of landing. If a Canadian address cannot be supplied at the time, it is necessary to provide one to Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) within 180 days. Otherwise a new application for a PR Card will be required, at a cost of $50 to the applicant. Manual applications for permanent residence cards take on average 67 days, compared to 30 days for those applied for at the time of landing.
There is no fee for a PR Card applied for at the time of the landing process
