ISAs are a waste of money!

Its maybe, that like me, they have a property in the UK and would like to sell it or have sold it to finance buying a property in Australia. If you have several hundred thousand GBP then you are looking at taking a huge hit with the poor exchange rate if you transfer those funds. Instead they may be looking at parking those funds in the UK in the hope the the exchange rate improves.

Its been unofficially devalued already, just look at its loss of value against major currencies, about 20-30% in one year!
Yes, an official devaluation is unlikely but not impossible, it has happened before and in some ways would benefit the country. It would of course hurt anyone emigrating, unless they have diversified their assets.

Less attractive to S.R. tax payers I would agree, but for someone to say they are rubbish without an alternative is not helpful as this thread is about moving money or finding the best UK saving rate.
