Ok here is what I am wondering in order to financial plan for stuff I need to know what I can afford and cant. Now the blessed Internet can give me arough estimate of Australian wages for certain Jobs. However what it cant give me is take home pay after the various state bodies take their cut.
Lets say for example a job paying 45,000 AUD a year
This equates to $3750 AUD per month
Ergo the Pie is $3750 Can anyone shed some light as to the following
So from a "Pie" of $3750 what is going to come out of that?
For Example Tax , national insurance , Super Anuation etc?
And what will one be left with at the end? oh and there are no dependants in this scenario.

A bit over 30% comes out as tax, the rest is yours.
No NI, no super (your employer pays that although you can contribute if you want).
Cheers,

Is 30% the official tax rate in Australia regardless of state. Plus anyone out there know if there is a amount you are not taxed on and an amount you are?

Hi I hope this is clearer once again I appela to the expats to see if this look like there Payslips
Option 1 Assumes the following
1 Super is included in your offer of 45000
2 The tax bracket 2 is calculated from the figure after Super and medicare is deducted ie [(wage - medicare - super) - 34000 ] is the figure you will be taxed 30% on.
Wages dropping Tax Paid Rate%
Initial Wage 45000
Medicare 44325.00 675 1.5
Super 40275.00 4050 9
Tax bracket 1 40275.00 0 0
Tax bracket 2 36075.15 4199.85 15
Tax bracket 3 35452.91 622.25 30
Total After Tax 35452.91
Total Tax 9547.095
Total Monthly 2954.40875
Option 2 Assumes the following
1: Super is not included
2: bracket 3 is calculated as above
Wages dropping Tax Paid Rate%
Initial Wage 45000
Medicare 44325.00 675 1.5
Super 44325.00 0 0
Tax bracket 1 44325.00 0 0
Tax bracket 2 40125.15 4199.85 15
Tax bracket 3 38287.91 1837.25 30
Results check
Total After Tax 38287.91
Total Tax 6712.095
Total Monthly 3190.65875
If anyone is wondering if you bracket 3 is actully total wage - 34000 it costs you an extra 2 grand a year.
Once we can get some confirmation on this i will happily pass on the spreadsheet.

Why do they have to make it so bloody complicated. They should replace this with a national sales tax.

for your examples
(1) - 45000 super included therefore gross before super roughly equals 41300 - take home pay is 2886 per month
(2) - 45000 super not included 45000 gross - take home pay is 3091 per month
http://www.ato.gov.au/scripts/taxcalc/calculate_tax.asp
Tax is a cumulative calculation of the bands not a per band calculation and the 1.5 medicare is included in the tax calculation I provided
