Can anyone recommend a company to send stuff to Australia?? We're moving in August and are only taking a small amount with us (100kg). So far the quotes we've had are pretty much the same for sea and air so we figure it would be easier to air freight it over. But have NO idea about what company to use!!! Can anyone suggest one or warn us of ones not to use??? Thanks!

If its a small amount of stuff and you just want to ship it in boxes, www.freedomshipping.com or www.voovit.com have been recommended as good no frills companies on this site.

Im pretty sure sea freight is a cheaper option. Ive just booked with freedomshipping - boxes being delivered tomorrow!

Thanks for that. The only thing with shipping is that you can't guarantee how long it's going to take. So many stories about people not getting their stuff for 6 months!! Wouldn't want to wait that long. And because we're shipping to Adelaide, most won't go until the containers are full and Adelaide isn't as popular as Sydney or Perth so could be ages before it gets full enough to leave! Guess I'll just keep looking into it. Did you ship from Australia or to with your boxes? Did freedom shipping give you any guarantee with time??

Well I will be shipping from UK to Perth - haven't sent it yet as boxes arriving tomorrow for me to pack!. On freedomshippings website it says sea freight door to door will take 10 weeks. Do a search on this sight for freedom shipping, some good reviews.

Anglo Pacific have quoted me £160.00 to air freight 50 kilos to Perth. I need to collect at Perth Airport though.

Just remember. Air freight is not shipped / charged as per its actual weight, if its volumetric weight is higher
(ie if you send a large light weight box @ 20 kg. They will measure is at a standard rate and it could be charged @ 100 kg !!)

This doesn't happen for sea shipping. When its just x tones per container, which is very hard to go over in household goods. You would only pay more for special containers, such as canvas roof, extra height or skid.

If no rush then send Ocean, if urgent then Air.

Try

UPS or TNT for airfreight.

We used Excess Baggage to send some boxes by airfreight. They were much cheaper than the usual removal firms.
