Hi Lee,
I had the same problem, I registered with seek.com.au and loaded all my details into their CV format, you can then take a copy of it for yourself.

I also had the same last year but I found out few interesting facts! :
1- There is no "special format" fro resume! yours must be full of buzz words to take their attention
2- There is no Aussie format of resume at all!
3- Details are important to most of resume revirewer
4- Do not let some sites fool you, they always state that limit your CV to 1-2 pages, while I had many calls from people received my 6 pages CV!
5- The first page and especially past experiences are extremely important to persuade them to review other pages
6- I had "resume maker" software, but it sounds too confusing by hundreds of resumes and various formats and versions!!!

All I did was change the title from 'Curriculum Vitae' to 'Resume'. Job done

They seem to like more detail here, so instead of the usual brief 2-page CV put in plenty of detail, even 4 or 5 pages seems to be OK

I think you have to look at it from the point of view of the person reading the CV.
If you got a CV with loads of Australian qualifications you didn't understand then what would you do with it?
So for example don't put C in A-level Maths put the Australian equivalent.

I used my Australian CV when I came to the UK; didn't change it at all. Nobody had any problem with it (except for the lack of a UK work history, which was a severe hindrance to employment).
When I go back home at the end of 2008, I'll continue to use the same CV - updated with the details of my UK experience.
Easy as.

Same here in reverse. Applied for about 3 jobs when I got here using the my UK CV and got interviewed for 2 and got offered both. 3 pages only, left qualifications as they were just adding UK to the schools and unis addresses.
Having seen it from the other side when my wife has been looking at CVs for potential employees, people get really pissed off if CVs are over 3/4 pages - who wants to read through 10 pages when 20 or 30 people have applied for a job?

Is it worth putting my school qualifications on my CV, they are absolutely dire
I think I got about 6 GCSE's all about C or D
I hated school & most of my education and knowledge was learnt from doing crosswords & reading books after I left school.By putting my crap school qualifications on my CV I feel employers will judge my on who I was then & not who I am now

If anyone wants me to take a look at their CV PM me. I'm not an expert but I will look at them free of charge and will be able to point you in the right direction (I used to work in HR so will be able to see if you get my attention or not
)
I will be doing these in my own time though, and will get to them as soon as I can. I have a busy weekend coming up, so any sent won't be looked at til Monday
