I am starting to get some prices together for our move hopefully sometime next year. We have recently had a quote from Robinsons and wanted to know if anyone has used them or plan to use them. If anyone has any good removals to recommend please share them with us.
Thanks

it's the Moseley's again from Halesowen
We are using Pickfords, only because they have been fantastic with us and all the problems we have had, we called Foxs, Britannia (heard they are rubbish) oh gosh others I can't even remember, and none apart from Pickfords got back to us, yes they quoted us and that was it, never heard from them again. The Rep from Pickfords (Martin) has been really great and patient!
Oh by the way we heard last night the LMO - the permit we have waited for and failed twice has gone through, we are good to go! so BYE Halesowen and HELLO Sudbury in January.
Please keep in touch as said before Paul and I would love to meet up, share tips and advised.

Be aware of one thing with Allied Pickfords. The reason we picked them was they said they are the same company both sides of the pond, so it's only being dealt with by one company. However once over here they outsource it to a third party to deal with the delivery. This happened with us on a part container, and someone else we know with a full container.

I chose to use Allied Pickfords in London because they said they would handle the Canadian side - well that has proved not to be the case.
As Ben said we have a full container which cost a pretty penny and am not impressed that 8 weeks later we are still waiting.
I know there is a slight variation from the usual as I am bringing a car.
Allied Pickford told me they would pack the container in such a way that the car could be separated from the furniture when it gets to Toronto and the furniture carry on to be delivered and then the car can be inspected by RIV etc.
Well guess what, my container has been sitting in Montreal for 2 weeks!
I contacted Allied Pickfords in London on 20th October to ask for an update - I'm still waiting for replies to my calls and emails - no surprise there then.
In the mean time I contacted Customs myself to be told that they had tried to inspect the car in the container (looking for mud - foot & mouth thing) and can't see the car for boxes! End result is that now the container must be unpacked and then repacked after they have checked for mud. This will take a few days, then the local agents will "see when they can get it on a train".
Not very impressed, but that's just my experience.:curse:

There was a problem with the container ship being a few days late into Montreal but that was the only snag in a pretty much smooth move.
The final bill totalled about 4,300 pounds and that included high seas shipping insurance and VAT.
