Hi Davie Mac
Don't know if you have had any answers to your question - but would like to ask the same from Lancashire to Manitoba - had plenty of people telling us who not to use, but not who is good value for money - would not be a full load.
Many thanks for any help
Mark

We moved from Hampshire in September, we had Robinsons, they were good for us. Don't know who they would use the Canadian end though, it depends on the location. It cost just over 4,000 of your pounds.

Hi,

I have read other forums where people have used Anglo Pacific they are coming out to me in January.

Also Pickfords are coming to see me next week - however a member of a previous post stated do not use Allied Pickfords, I know they are the company that we help us at the other end

I will keep you posted once I have seen them.

If having the samed company at either end is a deciding factor then don't use allied pickfords. Part of their sales speil is "you will only have to deal with one company", however at the other end they farm you out to a third party. We are not the only ones this has happened to.
Also I believe Ben has mentioned this in a previous post but although all our DVD cases arrived , the contents didn't necessarily.

Does any UK company have a branch in Canada? I thought everyone went through Tippett Richardson, and then a local Canadian company for delivery.

Allied Pickfords sell themselves by promising that you will be dealt with in-house by Allieds in Canada - this has it seems not been the case for a growing number of BE posters.

We chose Allied Pickfords for this reason alone! Sadly we too were mislead and were palmed off on a third party, Tippet Richardson who seem a friendly bunch, albeit very slow in getting things delivered. Our exclusive 20 foot container took 6 weeks to get from Montreal to Toronto.

My experience with Allied Pickfords has been extremely distressing and I have had absolutely no luck in geting them to take any calls or reply to emails from me. They have chosen to ignor a rather major mistake made by them that has cost me $1700. This does not even include all the breakages that I will have to claim for now - if I get anywhere with them.

Based on my dismal experience with Allied Pickfords and Tippet Richardson there is no way in good concience I could encourage anyone to even get a quote from them let alone actually use them to move.

This is only my experience, but you have been warned.

We used Whites for our move to Calgary. We had very few breakages, just niggly stupid things but nothing adding up to much. We were packed on the 24th/25th September and they told us they would hold things and ship second week in October to coincide with our taking possesion here on the 26th October, delivering sometime week beg. 29th October which suited us fine. However, on the 22nd October we were contacted by Tibbett & Richardson and told that our belongings had only just been shipped!!! We spent a couple of weeks on deck chairs and picnic tables etc before our belongings arrived on the 14th November and were delivered on the 16th after clearing customs!!

From other stories I have read I think we have been quite lucky but the little breakages are not worth claiming on and just a nuisance. I think at the end of the day I could, however, recommend both Whites and Tibbett & Richardson. Cost was just over £4000 for a 20 ft container plus your insurances and things I think.

We used Britannia to move from Dorset to Vancouver this year, they deal with Hampshire too.

No probs, no breakages, everything turned up when it was supposed to and to the right address. Completely hassle free at both ends, and a decent price.

Cheers, Iain

That's not good. Like I said, I thought Tippet Richardson had "the gig" for all stuff coming in so I don't know why they're saying that.

We went with Allied here and the service or pricing bore no resemblance to a UK move, so dealing with Allied at this end probably wouldn't have made any difference.

Good luck in sorting your claim out. Bishop's Move were slow to deal with mine but I was extremely happy when they did. Also no problem about Allied (in Canada) for my recent claim - contacted within 6 days, inspector round within 10, furniture guys fixed and finished within the fortnight.

Seems to be luck of the draw with movers, doesn't it ?

Just to clarify as well , our dvds did not get broken , we just unpacked empty cases , draw your own conclusions
