Hi Lisadd...

From what I've read in this and other posts... you may not be allowed to emigrate to Canada if you have a disease that poses a public health risk... like AIDS or tuberculosis and such... OR

If you have a medical condition that will be costing the Canadian Health system in excess of $5000 per year... or something like that... in this case other diseases that require constant medical attention or treatment will be included... such as dialysis, kidney failure, cancer, etc...

Good Luck on your medical exams and congratulations on getting this far!

Unhappy Re: medicals

Hi Lisadd,

I am glad I am not the only one worrying about the weight issue for the medicals. It would be awful after waiting for all this time and then being refused for being too fat.

The one thing I think might be showing up on your blood test if you are overweight is diabetes and for that you only need to show prove from your doctor that you have it under control... once again this information was gather from reading other posts...

Good luck to all who are going for medicals these days!

As far as i know , If you are overweight with no other health problems , then you are fine. Especially if your blood pressure is ok.

If you have other health problems then they may need more tests. IE for high blood pressure they may insist on a blood test that shows up any potential kidney problems.

If you are worried do a search for DMP handbook , it goes through everything in there.

I really wouldn't worry though , they let me in and I'm certainly no size zero!!!

weight is fine - i'm a size 20 and it wasn't an issue. high bp is a problem though. so watch out. hubby is being treated by docs for high bp and has been asked twice by chc for more medical info - and it's cost around £800 to get the medical info via cardiologists.

hope this helps with weight concerns tho!
