Hi
have tried a search but to no avail, have recently read somewhere about food water and litter? being available to the animal during the flight, I assume that this will be attached somehow to the crate for emergency use by airline staff during the journey to Calgary in case of flight delays etc as opposed to actually being in with our cat, she is clever but to my knowledge couldn't get the top off a bottle of water!!!!
Any advice or information appreciated

Just some bedding and a water bowl fixed to the front, that could be topped up from outside the crate. I wouldn't recommend putting anything else in.

Hi
You cannot put food and water etc in your Pups or Kits crate. I don't think you can put cat litter in either...you have to have a food and water bowl accessible to airline staff should there be a delay, they are as previously said usually clipped to the inside. Air Canada suggest you get a funnel and get garden tags to attach it above the water bowl, then if staff need to give water they don't wet your pups or kits bedding. They do not routinely feed or water pets prior to take off or after landing. The following is from Air Canada's website, they have been fantastic!
Preparation for travel
Since Air Canada assumes no responsibility for the care or feeding of pets while in transit, it is most important that you prepare both the cage and the animal ahead of time.
Feed your pet four to six hours prior to departure, as a full stomach may cause discomfort during travel.
Give your pet water right up to the time of travel. Be sure to empty the dish at Check-In otherwise spillage during the flight will give your pet a wet and uncomfortable ride. Leave the dish in the kennel so that our Agents can provide water in the event of an extended wait before, between or after the flight.
Tranquilizers and other medications are not recommended. Consult your veterinarian.
Cover the bottom of the kennel with absorbent material such as a blanket.
Do not lock the kennel door as Air Canada personnel may need to access your pet in the event of an emergency.
Hope this helps!
Do a search for other threads on pet travel...I started one a couple of weeks ago I will have a search for it, it was info we had found and others added to it

The pet moving company we used mailed us dishes and funnels, and cable ties to attach them and all manner of labels etc.
I put water in the dishes and then froze them so they defrosted while traveling and the labels on the crate asked the airline staff to give them more.
I bought some bedding called Dryfur http://www.dryfur.com/index.html but that was from the US - I think it is similar to vet bed, I seem to remember that is what my sister called it.
Anyway, it is very similar to the care mats you get for toddlers to keep the beds dry, and if the kitty pees or the water spills it keeps them dry, it worked wonderfully well for ours.
I'll attach a pic of one of our crates without the bedding inside.

I put vetbed (bought from UK pet shop) on the bottom of my cat's pet carrier with a small lightweight hand towel on top. The cat ruffled this up when she wee'd. I also put in some dried food and a little water. No cat litter!
I attached to the pet carrier a small bag containing more dried food and a small bottle of water.
I hand carried a clean small hand towel, some unscented baby wipes and fragranced nappy sacks - this was so I could give me cat a freshen up once landed in Canada as we still had another 1.5 hours drive in a car from the airport.
Our journey ended up taking 12 hours more than expected(!!!!) and my cat box wasn't particularly soiled. My cat has quite long hair so I trimmed up the fur under her tail too.
