She may or may not be able to get you a 'job offer'....but just remember, a job offer is not the same as a job.
I cannot tell you what to do, and I will make no recommendations. Your Sis has met her...she must decide.

[QUOTE=1066]Yes, I have had dealings with Shadi.
So did you find Shadi OK?
maybe it's just me but your post sounded as though your experience of her was not a good one.
I do have a job offer through Shadi (the employer has actually phoned me a few times here in the uk prior to sending me the contract to sign) and whilst it looks great - terms are good etc..etc.. I don't want to get bitten if I can avoid it.
If you have any info that would be of use to us before we pay our fees to her and sign all contracts, I'd really appreciate it.
Cheers

i am sure she is legitimate and competent and have seen her adverts. still would not bother and just investigate yourself. many others have. i reckon PNP as a painter/decorator would be hard to come by. i would go for a work permit and get what you can out of her for free!

If you are happy, then sign....if not, don't. Sorry if this sounds blunt, but only you can decide what is best for yourself.

Tradespeople are in short demand in BC at the moment, have they investigated PNP themselves?? Other than that, if they haven't got the time and are willing to blow $5,000 ...
I know she was instrumental in getting a friend of mine a job in IT when IT jobs were extremely scarce (mind you m'friend lives here and was able to chase up personally....)

I met Shadhi and her husband at the weekend also, they both seemed very nice and knowledgeable, but they were very much geared towards manual labour jobs, I'm looking for work in the Biotech/Research area and they seemed to go blank when I mentioned it! I got the impression that I'd be better to do it myself.
I guess that they are going to be more specialised in painters/electricians/welders etc as there are more of them I suppose.
You'd have to make your own decision, but their stand was always very busy on Saturday and they saw loads of people so they cant be that bad.
There was an English woman working with them on Saturday who told us that Shadhi had arranged her a job after applying in February 2006, she's moving in May 2006 and seemed very pleased with the service, she was volunteering to help on Saturday as a thank you for the good work done by Shadhi.

HI,
We had dealings with Shadi, comes across as all helpful but be careful as others have said will get you job offer but that does not mean it will all go through. Friend who moved to Calgary used her to find job, paid her the fees but employer wouldnt give info needed for it to go through so they lost alot of money and had to start again. I even questioned her on this and came up with all sorts of excuses and made out it was my friends fault!!
My husband is dryliner had spoken on phone to her and she said she could help us but it didn't feel right, had strange feeling so phoned friend in Calgary who confirmed it was her they had used. We then met her at Sandown last year and talked to her but when you look into it she does very little for the money as you and employer have to do all the paperwork! She messed us around as well so we left it.
I know of others who have used her and have had success. I think it depends on your line of work and if its easy to get she will find it, but you could just do it yourself!
Good luck with whatever you decide to do, buyer beware!!

Shady Norman, as I refer to her.
I used her services and all went well when we were originally going to Toronto. As soon as we said we were now going to Calgary she made all sorts of excusses about not being familiar with the city and passed us on to another friend of hers who surprisingly wanted more cash for the same service.
My advice, don't waste your money

My gut feeling was obviously correct from what I've read on this thread.

Hi all
Both she and the employers she works with appear primarily concerned with construction trades, I'm a time served carpenter with locksmith training and apparently my skills and experience are in short supply over there.???
I realise that we could have saved money doing it independently but the time was the issue for us. We hope to go end of July / beginning of August to start work, which fits in great with the kids schooling. (We didn't want them to start back here after summer and then be moved mid term) And Shadi has done a lot of the paperwork for us which has saved us loads of time we don't really have.
Like the woman at the show on Saturday, things have moved very quick for us so far, I contacted her end of February and 3 days later get a call from a prospective employer to talk through an initial interview! He's phoned 4 more times and e-mailed regularly to see if things are still ok? Up to now I haven't paid her a penny.
I guess it's the speed of things that's given us the jitters a bit. Everything does seem in order though, I've even had the job offer and contract through from the company who want to take me on so at least I have something in black and white. ?!?
Thanks to everyone for their thoughts though, I guess the proof of the pudding will be when we get there. Fingers Crossed.

Just happened to notice that this Shadi lady gets a mention in the latest issue of Muchmore magazine (www.muchmormagazine.com). A family who emigratted to BC via PNP route give an account of their experiences and seem to credit her for getting them over to Canada.

Hello..
We used Shadi back in 2003. She did find my husband a Job and we came over on a work permit. It was quite expensive and to cap it all my husband hated the job His employer was uncoperative and his work conditions were poor. So he left we of course had no choice but to return to England. We then waited out for our PR's and returned to BC in 2005. I would advise anyone who is going to take this route to think about it carefully It is a huge risk. We had uprooted our family etc. only to go back after 3 months. But on a positive note the trip only reinforce of decision to move.
