Tis time to remove those conditions - I751
#1
Hi guys;
My time to remove my conditions from my greencard is coming up, end of Feb to be more precise.
Hubby and I are in the process or trying to find another place to rent - our current lease expires in APRIL.
I will file sometime in March.
My question is regarding ADDRESS.
Would it be okay to use a friends address for USCIS mail correspondances? or no?
Yes I know the practical solution would be to find a place as quickly as we can, then use that new address on the form when filling out BUT I'd really like to file the I-751 as soon as March.
If I cannot use my friends address for USCIS mail correspondances, then what would you best advise?
thanks all.

[QUOTE=ian-mstm;9101177]If your have permission from your friend and your friend's address is reliable, yes. Be sure to complete the online AR-11.
Yes my friend has given me and hubby permission to use his address for mail correspondances.
If I fill out the AR-11 for the address change now, will I need to fill out again once we do find a place to live? If so, could I fill out the 2nd AR-11 once hopefully if all goes well, they send me the 10 year GC?

The AR-11 is primarily to register your *physical* address.. where YOU live. File this when you actually move to a new place.
When you file your I-751, that is the appropriate place to put your new *mailing* address (your friend).
You will know that worked when you receive your extension letter in the mail about a month after filing.
Then you will attend biometrics. Then you will get approval notice (or request for more info/interview). Finally then you will get the new card in the mail.

This is my cheat sheet for changing your mailing address--it predates the online AR-11 but has worked for many.
To successfully change your mailing address, from the Dept of Overkill:
-file AR-11 as required by law. This (may) does not change your *mailing* address, but it informs USCIS where you might have been, at one time. Just do it, it's the law
USCIS Online Change of Address
AR-11 does not generally generate a NOA receipt. Send by trackable mail if you don't use the online version. Write down any receipt numbers you get if you do use the online version.
-Copy of AR-11 to any LOCAL or district office where you might have a file pending. Include a letter saying: change my mailing address (whatadiva, this does not apply to you)
-copy of AR-11 to any Service Center where you might have a file pending. Include a letter saying: change my mailing address (whatadiva, this does not apply to you)
-Phone call to 1-800 MisInformation line with the request: please change my mailing address (whatadiva, this does not apply to you)
-file I-865 for USC Sponsor as required by law. You *may* get a NOA for this one and it *might* change the Sponsor's mailing address. Or not. (whatadiva, this applies to your spouse when you actually move)
-file Change of Address and Mail Forwarding with the USPS. Your USCIS mail *might* get forwarded to your new addy. Or returned to USCIS, you never know.
Unfortunate side effect: the PO sells your new address to bulk mailers and you are now back on every junk mailing list under the sun.
Do-it-yourself: Stop junk mail, email and phone calls
(hint: use the google cache to access this page if it is down)
30 days later
-Follow up phone call to 1-800 to see if address change is captured.
-Cross fingers and keep an eye on processing times and when you expect to be contacted. Don't let it go for ages and then say 'dude, where's my case?'.©

thank you Meauxna and Ian.
We have found 3 potential townhomes to move into in March IF we do, then I will just use that new permanent residence address on the form.
thank you both for your advise and input.
