I believe that it is illegal to run a credit report on someone other than yourself without their permission.

Probably not legal to keep an illegal wife either

True.

I'm on her side for sure, I'd just hate for him to find out and her to get in some sort of trouble.

I believe those things ask you a lot of questions, to verify your identity... which she may or may not know the answers to. As I recall, for one of the bureaus the security questions just refused to work for me, and I had to phone up and order it.

I don't think it's illegal but the husband might find out. Some credit reporting agencies offer a service where they alert you whenever someone checks your credit.

Note in my first reply to peach, I warned her the conversation might go this way.
It's *incomprehensible* to me that a person put that much 'trust' (responsibility) into someone else's hands, to the point that they do not know their financial situation and all the other objections that have been raised.
Kudos, Mexxie on a well written response.

I am sorry maybe I confused you earlier but my appointment was a doctors appointment and not to do do with my visa requirements. My co-pay would be 20 dollars but on top I would need to purchase medicine which would add up too much. Also my doctor is over an hours drive away and so gas is an issue.
I do not believe my husband has a secret life as he goes to work and comes home. However he gets defensive when I ask if we can work out a budget with his incomings and outgoings.
I would not wish any one ever to be dependent as I am.I have a few life lessons to teach my children.
He is very stressed at the moment especially since I really got on to him about it.
The reason why I did not give too many details out about his job in England was I am worried someone will recognise me that we know. He worked for a government organization that closed down in the U.K. Actually before I went on maternity leave I was working for them too. We paid rent but lived in their housing.
I will make a note of the legal help suggested here and keep it close by.Thankyou
My children are calling and I must go.
I sincerely thankyou.Maybe I can get back individually soon.
Yikes! Hubby says cannot afford $20 copay for doctor! But worrying about not affording medicine, perhaps you should see what you need first, it might be an easy fix.
Walmart, Target and Fred Meyer have cheap generics - $4 per month or $10 for 3 month for many meds. They have their med lists up on their pharmacy websites.
VAWA petition as Folinskinla mentioned on my mind.

HELLO .THANKYOU ONCE AGAIN FOR ALL YOUR HELPFUL ADVICE!!!!
JUST TO LET YOU KNOW MY HUSBAND HAS MANAGED TO FINALLY PAY FOR MY VISA APPLICATION.
I finally recieved receipt for it today in the post. He sent it off last week.So a next interview maybe for the bio metrics appointment will follow soon.
All your replies made me sit down with my husband.I got quite upset with my husband I even used the words"it is not normal to go to a country and not get the visa needed.Do you think we are above the law...." I questioned everything we had together that night spent the entire night up .I think it did the trick.
My husband does work hard and I know we live pay check to check but he realized that brushing things under the carpet is not good.

Thankyou once again.I stilll keep all the law contact numbers...

Well this is what was needed, you just needed to stand up to him and make him realise that the situation was not acceptable to you. Glad you got up the courage to do this, and you are on your way to getting legalised.

I hope the rest of the process goes smoothly.
