Sizes of Beds!
Hi
Is there any kind person out there that can tell me the sizes of beds in Oz please? Is a double bed called a queen? What is a king size called? Just trying to decided whether to pack any linen or not.

Australian Bed Sizes
Single Bed 92 cm x 187 cm 3'0" x 6'2"
Single Extra Long 92 cm x 203 cm 3'0" x 6'8"
King Single 106 cm x 203 cm 3'6" x 6'8"
Double Size 137 cm x 187 cm 4'6" x 6'2"
Queen Size 153 cm x 203 cm 5'0" x 6'8"
King Size 183 cm x 203 cm 6'0" x 6'8"
Whereas the UK king size bed is 152cm x 198 60" × 78"
Well thats what google reckons anyhow and my UK sheets dont fit

No he is right. A UK king size bed is a Queen size bed here. The Australian King Size has no equivalent in the UK, meaning all the linen you buy in the UK marked king size wont fit.
Australian Bed Sizes
Single Bed 92 cm x 187 cm 3'0" x 6'2"

In the States we had a Californian King which I think was slightly bigger that the UK King. It's certainly a real aggravation when trying to buy, wherever you happen to be! Especially when you take into account the extreme mattress depths they dream up now - our latest one needs 45cm deep fitted sheets!

I thought the UK superking was the equivalent to the oz King? Maybe I am wrong

Bring your stuff, if it fit's great - if it doesn't then buy some
Don't go into the big bedding shops as they are expensive, there are some smaller ones that often have quite good quality stuff at a good price. Also look for the KMart, Target, BigW sales as you can get them with 20 or 25% off. Even Woolworths and Coles have some good bargains now and then.

Single sized linen 's diff. from UK too. i brought kids duvet covers over and bought light weight single duvets here, don't fit as they are much wider than the UK size duvets .
