After driving around New Zealand over Christmas and New Year I propose a parliamentary petition to officially acknowledge median strips (flush medians, the ones with cross hatching) as New Zealands urban and suburban fast lanes. I used to treat them as a turning area but realise that all this time I’ve been missing utilising their full potential as a way to drive past stationery traffic at speed.

Would use again, 10/10!

You should know better by now, it's a game of Wacky Races out there and you get nowhere by driving like Peter Perfect. You simply have to join in and perform every dastardly deed possible to get one car in front. That means driving along the median strips, across the car park lanes, up the pavement and the most direct route across the roundabouts if needs be.
