Re: General Election NZ
This country tried very radical change once before, twenty-five years ago, some people still complain about that today.
So don't expect much to change very quickly now.

Re: General Election NZ
He starts by saying "if it all goes wrong don't blame us"
I expect the dollar to tumble and prices to rise
He campaigned complained about foreigners buying up New Zealand
and now says we need to attract more overseas investors
It'll be what it'll be,
I don't expect a second term but I hate the thought of the idiot greens being in there

Not much change yet: https://www.anz.co.nz/personal/migra...raphs/nzd-twi/
To be honest it'll be months before they can really implement anything. At this point we don't even clearly know what policy Labour will pursuit ("Let's do this" isn't really a policy) much less in coalition.
I say we give the young lady a chance, election cycles in New Zealand are very short. All eyes on the tax working group to see if we get CGT or other substantial changes.

I'm not a Kiwi though I sure do like the country. Only popped over to see what people were saying about the new government. It is certainly intriguing. National with 44% was by far the biggest winning party compared to Labour at 36% yet they're shut out of government. Something like this could be very divisive despite the argument that the coalition as a whole more closely reflects the voting percentages. Well, NZ will have to see what happens.

Will old Bill stick around as leader of the opposition or will they go to the bench?

Mmm, given today we find out that Winston Peters had already filed court papers against the top National guys, English, Bennet & Joyce, the PMs advisor, plus several journalists the day before the election, the chances of him going into government with National must have been close to zero. Instead wasting everyone's time.
