I asked for a quote and was happy to pay what I felt was a very reasonable price @ 65 euros. Just like in UK Abogados, will employ paralegals for menial tasks.
A Gestors might have been cheaper, but...

I used an Abogado. They did it all for me. I gave them my UK license they filled in the forms. I got a temporary license within 14 days and Spanish license within a month by post.

I would second that. Last month, I was stopped by police in Cuidad Quesda who were stopping all traffic and doing document checks. They were very thorough.

What did you and your friend do and what did police say? What evidence do police have, e.g. witness statements...

What did the cops say to your friend?
Were you both overtaking?
I would pay the fine. It could cost you a lot more if you are taken to court and found...

Spain are much tougher at enforcing rules than in UK. No idea what rules apply in Lanzarote. I would ask for advice at your local town hall / local police office.
