Same happened to me. We were in California but to had to fly out to Pennsylvania even though we let them know about the change of address three months prior.

Re: L1 A or B Visa

L-1A caters for executives and mangers, two very different positions. In the case of an executive, it is not a requirement to have direct reports. Of course, you still need to meet the definition of...

Re: Working under contract for an O1 petitioner as opposed to being employed

I'd have imagined that it all came down to % of ownership. There could be situations where the employer grants shares to employees as a reward. It happened to me, and it did not affect either my...

Re: Reciprocity fee for NIV processing

Either you make an in-person appointment at the Embassy as per postbox134 (email them at petitionslondon at state dot gov), or if you have a friend in the US, they can get a cashier's check issued...

Re: Any penalty for applying for EAD renewal early?

Is it correct that if I have a combined EAD & AP, I cannot renew 180 days before expiry, but 120 days only before expiry?

Re: SSN for children

I wish I came across this thread last year when we filed for our I-485/131/765. Our attorney did not advise that we should apply for I-765 for our 1-year old daughter for child tax credit purposes....

Re: Moving to usa

As others have mentioned elsewhere on this forum, family-based visas are, by far, the most common for immigration purposes. Given your age, I'll say this: it is not uncommon for one to find her/his...

Re: Covid 19 Travel/Immigration to USA - please check here and ask questions

Quick update:
I traveled back to LAX on Sun 14 Feb (L-1A with valid National Interest Exception provided by the US Embassy in London), attempted entry via Global Entry (have been a member for...

Re: SSN for children

I didn’t think there was an age requirement as long as you qualify otherwise (green card holders do). See https://uk.usembassy.gov/u-s-citizen-services/federal-benefits/social-security-numbers-ssn/

Re: Moving to Florida

I would strongly caution against L1 if the principal owner of the business (i.e. the OP and spouse) is attempting to open new office, it is likely to fail. The program was not invented for small...

Re: best way to go from L1a visa to green card

Most attorneys charge $5k for filing the I-140 (plus $700 filing fee), and employers can recoup this from the beneficiary if necessary.

So again, this whole saga doesn’t come down to cost but...

Re: Non-resident Alien US tax question

I think you qualify as a “resident” alien as an L-1 employee.

Furthermore, do you mention these accounts in your HMRC Self Assessment? Or have you told HMRC that you permanently left the UK?

Re: best way to go from L1a visa to green card

I doubt the employer’s reluctance is cost-related ($700 to file I-140 in EB-1C). Nonetheless, an EB-1C candidate surely adds more value to the firm than any green card-related cost. Finally,...

Re: Expedited Visa - L2

My wife’s L2 EAD took 4 months to be issued (no biometrics needed). Received May 2020, issued Sep 2020.

Re: Expedited Visa - L2

If your husband qualified for an NIE for travel before (as an L-1A holder) on the basis of his work, there’s a very strong chance he will be granted one again as long as he’s not abusing...

Re: Expedited Visa - L2

Did you previously need to apply for an NIE in order to book your September appointment?

I assume you are speaking of the London Embassy. Have you looked at other locations like Belfast?

Can...

Re: Current USCIS processing times for Perm Residency?

I think L1 renewal is the best course of action as even the I-131 takes months to process as the combined I-131/765 card is dependent on a biometrics appointment which will take some time given the...

Re: Current USCIS processing times for Perm Residency?

Your L-1A renewal should be fine, and you have plenty of time to do a regular (non-PP) filing given your current I-94 expiration. Please note that you are expected to provide the same supporting...

Re: best way to go from L1A visa to green card

In a typical situation, your employer would file in the EB-1C category on the I-140.

The green card is provided by the I-485 to which the I-140 is a pre-requisite (as in it must have been received...

re: best way to go from L1A visa to green card

The subject of your thread is confusing (it says from green card *to* L-1A).

Does your visa stamp expire in 16 months or your I-94?

As Jerseygirl says, your employer only can sponsor you for...

Re: UK employed whilst living in the US

There's no double taxation. The simplest way around this if the UK business deposits the gross salary directly into your US-domiciled bank account using e.g. Transferwise. Alternatively, if you...
