Re: selling house after moving - fair market value, bump etc

Get the highest valuation you can. Tell them you want it high for tax purposes. Have the estate agent date the letter for roughly when you move to Canada.

This "value" is what gains are measured...

Re: Below recent express entry cut off - advice?

I heard on CBC radio the other day that Canada now has a target of 1.2 million new immigrants in next 3 years. I don't know how big the pool is, but might the points requirements drop if they're...

Re: Citizen by descent

She was British by descent. The same way you're arguing you're Canadian by descent. It's not as black and white with Canadian citizenship in the past, unfortunately. It likely depends on if she is...

Re: Shipping 3 suitcases from UK to Canada

Yeah excess luggage might be better if you're travelling anyway? If you book it in advance with the airline. You can hire a porter in Heathrow with the bigger trolley to push it all for you :) It's...

Re: Parental/Grandparent sponsorship details.

OK, thanks, I'm still not clear but I'll have to read up on it if we decide to try our luck.

We became resident in Oct 2017, so only have 3 months' income for 2017 NoA. Not clear if they need 2017...

Re: Dual Intent - Self-employment

I switched my driving licence while on a visitor visa (while awaiting PR / OWP). You have to after 2 months or something (in Ontario).

Re: Parental/Grandparent sponsorship details.

Any idea what income requirements are?

It says "not decided yet". Apparently previous years were "minimum income requirement +30%". Was anyone following what this was?

Thanks

Re: Shipping Leeds to Niagara

Yeah I was thinking this. It's really nice for a weekend. Can recommend the Oban Inn opposite the golf course. Think the school has closed (not enough local kids). Not sure if you have work lined up...

(Off topic) How do you lose OHIP coverage? The card expires and you aren't here to renew it?

Re: Health Insurance during waiting period

Yes visitors travel insurance is what I used I think. But I was a new spousal PR applicant. I used a few different companies (I was here for a year before PR granted). Blue Cross rings a bell. I've...

Re: Applied for citizenship!

Is that 50% of the last 5 years spent in Canada?

So spend 3 years straight, apply for citizenship, then bugger off and hope oath happens within the following 2.5 years :)

Re: Applied for citizenship!

No.

That's the question I asked, and FL said no, you can't sign the application until the day after you become eligible.

Re: Timing?

Spousal PR is pretty much a slam dunk. I wouldn't be nervous of not getting it, provided you are living together.

People make mistakes on their forms and get them sent back, etc, but if it's a...

Re: Spousal Sponsorship - how do you describe relationship?

I'm not uploading my forms for the internet to see, was trying to give insight where I could, but take your point.

OP do what you think best. You can't go wrong with the wiki.

Re: Spousal Sponsorship - how do you describe relationship?

Yes I used the wiki, and asked questions here. The help was invaluable. Thank you again to everyone who contributed.

But the group think on this thread is "add extra pages, it worked for me".

But it never crossed my mind to attach extra pages...
