Re: Decent salary

OK, I'll bite! My fathers old joke (1950 - 60's vintage) went along the lines of:

Guy having a social chat with his boss at a BBQ with a few beers, subject somehow get around to Sudbury......

Re: Biometrics & medicals requested

You are getting a bargain! The medical must include a chest x-ray and blood test. My wife's spousal sponsorship medical cost GBP285 back in 2016.

Re: School buses in Ontario

Not an expert and no first hand experience, but I can confim London has LOADS of school buses and it is the norm that kids use them. The traffic laws ensure bus pick up and drop off is as safe as...

Re: Couriers?

+1!

I made the mistake of sending it Royal Mail (fully tracked I was assured). It was tracked beautifully until it was put on a plane in the UK, then 'disappeared' for 3 or 4 weeks with no update...

Re: Will for both countries, or just Canada?

No. The commonwealth is no more than a posh dining club these days!

Yes. If of course you have assets in both countries. And possibly a separate will per Canadian province if you have assets...

Re: Where to live in Canada

So 130,000 people descend on a town of 6,000? I clearly have a different idea of what disruptive means 😁

Re: Where to live in Canada

Oh you can take as many photos of motorbikes as you like, you can even get your photo taken with full patch members of Hells Angels (if you ask them nicely and often hand over some cash) if that...

Re: Couple of questions

Spousal sponsorship spreadsheet has not been in use since the end of 2019 as despite 'advertising on this and another forum, people simply stopped volunteering their timelines.

Strongly recommend...

Re: Where to live in Canada

Looks like a nice and sensible sized town.

BUT be advised that every Friday 13th (of any month), the town is taken over by hoardes of motorbikers from all over North America (think 5000+...

Re: Moving back to Canada, not sure where to start...am feeling very overwhelmed

+1 what Christmasoompa said, especially the links to wiki. Great checklist there with everything you can think of. Draw up your own list and start working methodically through it.

Simply keep...

Re: Transferwise borderless account

Correct.

TW do not use the money markets to actually change 'your' GBP into CAD. Instead, the 'match' your GBP with corresponding deposits in their CAD account (from Canadian customers wanting to...

Re: Transferwise borderless account

I started with TD Trust, then opened a Tangerine account, then following a SNAFU with a wire transfer of our Canadian house sale proceeds, opened and now use RBC. Personally, I am very happy with...

Re: Transferwise borderless account

I dont agree that you would need to declare it as part of the $10k rule. It is no different than GBP sat in your UK account, it is merely CAD sat in a virtual account offshore. It would be...

Re: IMM5532E Part A Question 6 : When did you last live in Canada?

Re: Petty crime
