Re: AOR from London August/September 2010 - Progress updates

Well, reading this is depressing. I was one of the very first applicants under the 'new' FSW scheme and it took just 9 months from start to finish (including a couple of months of my own time...

Re: This is confusing: PR CARD

PS On the back of the COPR you will see a key which explains what each of the numbered boxes refer to. Even though you might want to get it all done and dusted as soon as possible, take your time...

Re: This is confusing: PR CARD

Lots of people have had their photos refused. I had this and had to go through the minor trouble of having my photo taken in Windsor immigration office. Not a great deal you can do now, I suspect....

Re: Living in Canada... thinking of staying

Her job - if she's a university lecturer - is on the list. I think she needs to have a minimum of a year's experience of this job. Obviously, she'd need to meet the points criteria etc as well. ...

Re: Reality Check Vancouver

Nice to see some hard data on this but 'Apples and Oranges' comes to mind. Look at the sectors that those in BC are employed in - relatively low paying jobs like forestry, utilities etc - and we...

Landing in Windsor - but which crossing?

I'll be flying to Detriot in a couple of weeks time and have just 24hrs to land in Canada before I jet off to Florida. I have a hire car but am not sure which of the two border crossings I should go...

Re: Criminal checks

JonboyE and numerous others are right on this. The conviction will NOT be deleted from the PNC.

The important point is what all this means for your application. Since the 'conviction' is spent...

FSW - passport back

This morning I picked up my passport from the local Royal Mail delivery office. I now have one fewer spare pages in my passport  I travel to the US in four weeks time and will now stop off...

Re: Contact at last - DMP

Sounds like one of our very best NHS consultants. Cheap as well  The weaker ones take 20 secs

Let's just hope this nasty diversion is nearly at an end for you.

Re: Slow down on PPR for FSW Cat1 applicants

Joinerboy is right. My wait was nearly five months from sending the full application to London, to getting the meds request. My case is a straightforward one, as well. So, based on my experience...

Re: Slow down on PPR for FSW Cat1 applicants

There has been some action. I received my PR a couple of weeks ago.

By the time I get my passport back, it will be around 10.5 to 11 months since I first applied. Admittedly, it took me two...

Re: Medical question(s) - Children / Bristol

I tried to book a medical with this GP but she only sees patients once a month because, I was told by the receptionist, this is what suits her. Well, it didn't suit me and so I went to Oxford for a...

Re: Passport Requests

I received my passport request this morning. Letter was dated 9th Oct:confused: So, Jet, it looks like yours should be very, very soon.

Re: FSW Cat 1 Visas Received

Like you, I plan to land first and then start the search for jobs in earnest. Fortuitously, a few months ago I booked my winter holiday trip to Florida via Detroit. As long as my passport is...

Re: FSW Cat 1 Visas Received

My Meds were done on the same day as you, I think, and I've heard nothing yet as well. Not sure whether that's reassuring or not:confused:

Serious car accident just prior to meds!

Hi All,
This is not about me (I'm all set, I think) but about my brother, who lives in Mexico. He's just reached the meds stage but had a serious car accident last week which has left him...

Re: FSW Cat 1 Visas Received

Fantastic news for you. I feel like we've been a small cohort going through this together and, in retrospect, it has not really taken that long, has it? All the best to you. I'm glad the process is...

Re: Medicals in the south?

Forget Bristol. The GP only does them once a month, purely for her own convenience, so that she can get them all done in one day, so I was told by her secretary.

I ended up going to the private...

Re: Rejection letter, insufficient points, part 2

Definitely don't be put off by the learning French route. I agree that 'basic' is not what many people (including me) might think it is but, it is very obtainable with hard work. As I've said...

Re: Rejected and Banned for Life from Canada by the CIC

Re: Rejected and Banned for Life from Canada by the CIC

PS. In your post, after 'enough' there should be a comma rather than a full stop, or at least, that was what I learnt when I was seven years old.

Re: Rejected and Banned for Life from Canada by the CIC

Hilarious. I know exactly what the idiom means. The point is, where do you think you've seen a grammatical or spelling error? If you can't find it then I think it puts you in the same category as...

Re: Medicals Completed

I had my meds done in Oxford because it was nearly four weeks to wait for the once monthly medicals done at the Bristol surgery. When I asked why it was only once a month I was told that it suited...
