Re: Florence, Italy

Greg,
Good detective work, I think? Am I the only one who has no idea how to find a poster's email address? I've always wondered about it...

Both my airline credit cards (USAirways and United) have sent notices that they have started charging 3% on "foreign currency transactions." This seems to eliminate some of the good-rate advantage...

Re: Florence- goto Pisa or Siena?

Yes, Siena has "more" to it than Pisa--especially don't miss the Enoteca Nazionale with its hundreds of wines to taste--but if you're one of the lucky few to climb the tower in Pisa again it's worth...

Re: Chez Black - Positano

I've never been there, but there's a photo of it in the TimeOut guide to Naples.

Please help me choose among 3 Amalfi coast hotels

My husband, 8-year old and some friends will be spending 3 weeks in the Amalfi/Sorrento area this July--two weeks in a villa overlooking both gulfs, (Sant'Agata sui due Golfi) so we'll have day trip...

Re: Umbria, Lake Trasimeno

I agree with the Cortona suggestion, unless you have your heart set on lakeside accommodations. I would strongly recommend against any of the lakefront towns in full summer, but in early May...

Re: Inverness - Scotland

We loved Inverness! We were so disappointed to have left the Isle of Skye, and found nothing special about Loch Ness (we live in lake country in the US) but it ended up being the highlight of our...

Re: Villas in Tuscanny

Just wanted to add my vote to www.rentvillas.com--we've rented from them several times now and find them very honest and reliable. Another good source--lots of offerings--is the Parker Comparny (I...

Re: Hotel in Naples Italy

Hi...We're planning a similar trip this summer, and here's what I've decided. I was going to stay in Naples the first night for the same reason--convenience--but then realized that Sorrento is...

Re: advice for 1st day in Italy (getting to Rome?)

I think the comments are leaning in the right direction--with the advice to stay put in Milan for a day. We go to Italy most summers, and I've often gotten over-anxious when I do armchair planning...

Other travel forums? (fora?)

I'm really enjoying this immensely, and I'm wondering if any of you veterans know of other sites like this--particularly addressing European travel. Thanks!

Re: Credit card coverage of car rental insurance in Italy

I too am a little surprised at this skepticism. Why would you trust a rental car company in Italy more than your own credit card? I have been renting cars in Italy for 15 years, have had two minor...
