Re: Changing job during application

Won’t have any impact - eligibility for citizenship is not tied to employment.

Re: ESTA requirements for British Citizen (Canadian PR) travelling to USA

I've always handed mine into CBSA officers and never had an issue with them accepting it. In any case, it's generally not a big deal if you don't hand them in as your exit is electronically recorded...

Re: ESTA requirements for British Citizen (Canadian PR) travelling to USA

Re: Buying a vehicle with a UK licence

Back in 2015 we were able to purchase and insure a car with non-BC licenses in BC. You may end up paying higher insurance rate initially but once you switch license to BC then you should be able to...

Re: BA or Westjet to London?

Yes the 777s are on the older side but it only matters when the last cabin update was done. In the BA 777s case, most of them were updated in 2018 so should feel relatively modern and clean (of...

Re: BA or Westjet to London?

It seems like the majority of BA 777s got updated WT+ in 2018 but the update also included a change to the seat layout to 2-4-2. It seems like the YVR flight is one of the newer WT+ cabins and 8...

Re: CRA tax review

+1 for always saving the PDF of the tax return before submitting. Always useful to have.

Re: Can a UK citizen buy a property in Canada?

Some provinces have a foreign buyers tax which is payable if you do not hold PR or are not a citizen.

BC ->...

Re: Citizenship test prior to completion of other steps??

The normal process is for you to take the test and then for the rest of the sections to be completed. Background check will also likely go back to In Progress after you complete the test.

Re: Citizenship Application Timeline

Not excusing the delay or lack of communication but just some perspective. There are only 9 citizenship judges in Canada and each ceremony has to be run in one of their (virtual) presences. Each Zoom...

Re: Passed citizenship test. What’s next

Before being invited to oath ceremony, you will need to wait for all other items in the tracker to change to complete. This usually takes 2-3 months. Once this is done, it’s typically 2-3 months to...

Re: How long does it take to get through immigration as a new PR?

It's impossible to say as it depends on how many people are in the queue and how many agents are on duty at the time. Though Pearson is currently in the news as it's taking hours to even get to the...

Re: real estate prices in Canada sustainable?

There's already been a noticeable slowdown around where I live in Vancouver - in general, houses are taking longer to sell (if at all) and there's some modest (5-10%) price drops. 5 year fixed rates...

Re: 5-4 Roe vs. Wade leak

How about something like Ireland's constitution? Clearly defined and amendable by popular vote and amendments are often voted on on the same day as local/general elections.

It's really hard to see...

Re: BC tenancy laws

Kind of hard to follow your post but after your initial lease period ends (assuming it's a year) then you automatically go month-to-month. If you want to end the lease before the year is up then you...

Re: Coronavirus

What do you think the "Canadian government" could have done better or differently? The UK has a cumulative death rate that is almost 2.5x that of Canada so not sure I would say UK handled it better.

IMO if you work in healthcare and refuse to take a free, safe, effective vaccine then you should be shown the door.

Re: Dependant child required to pay MSP?
