That's a little deceptive. You can be out of the USA for more than 6 months. But if you want to apply for citizenship, it may reset the clock on your continuous residence requirement. See more info...

Maybe try a different bank? When we bought our place 5 years ago, we paid with a bank cheque. And we did not pay any fee for that. Our bank is BBVA.

For non-residents, you have to fill out Form 210 once per year if you do not have income. But if you do have income, you fill it out for each quarter that you have income.

What option did you choose in Transferwise for "How would you like to pay"? Maybe try another option, like Direct Debit. You can cancel your previous transfer.
