Re: Can a Power of Attorney get my I-551 Stamp?

Walking in, and asking very nicely if they will stamp my passport is what I will do if an appointment cannot be made. I have to think that it will take no more than 10 minutes, if I have all the...

Re: Can a Power of Attorney get my I-551 Stamp?

And appreciate the suggestions.

My reality is that I visit establishments where they want to see a valid proof of authorization to work, and immigration status. A valid green card/I-551 satisfies...

Re: Can a Power of Attorney get my I-551 Stamp?

There are certain 'companies' that are very strict about who they hire, and allow onto their facilities. They check everyone's status, including natural born citizens. If you are not a citizen, or...

Re: Can a Power of Attorney get my I-551 Stamp?

Be assured, I have been trying to schedule an appointment morning, noon and night, as has everyone else (apparently). If I could go to an office in one of the border cities (Texas/Mexico) there are...

Re: Can a Power of Attorney get my I-551 Stamp?

1) Why is it so difficult to get an appointment at the Austin office of USCIS?

My assumption is that it is a very busy office. Every time I go to the USCIS web site and attempt to find an InfoPass...

Re: Can a Power of Attorney get my I-551 Stamp?

As a follow up to my previous post. I reread the instructions and subsection 3 does not apply in the instance. The applicable section is in fact 292.1(a)(4), which specifies an accredited person....

Re: Can a Power of Attorney get my I-551 Stamp?

The G-28 instructions refer to § Sec. 292.1 Representation of others. If my interpretation of sub-section 3 is correct, my girlfriend should be able to represent me. She is reputable, of good moral...

Re: Can a Power of Attorney get my I-551 Stamp?

I can't take a couple of hours off work. My work takes me away from home for a whole week. Unless I can get an appointment in a week that I am home, I will not have to work for a week. Getting an...

Short version:

Due to the nature of my work, I need to show I am a permanent resident. My already extended 'green card' expires in November, 2017. Based on the information I have my replacement...

Re: US Tax Implications for UK Inheritance

HI Micheal,

Thank you for responding. I certainly won't be exceeding the $5m limit. Based on what I had heard about non-US citizens inheriting I am concerned that the IRS will hit me with a tax...

Re: Help with European travel

You might consider using the train to travel. A Google search brought up the following web site http://www.raileurope.com. If you started in London you could get on a train to Paris (via the Chunnel).

Re: Can you transfer UK credit history to the US

I got a secured card from Capitol One. I paid it off every month, due to the rather high interest rate, but I hear it is better to leave an amount owing if you want to raise your credit score faster....

Re: The "Montego" is back!

My first car was an Austin Maxi. It used to gobble fuel and the BMC gearbox was a nightmare. I also had a Montego MG which did sterling service. The re-sale value was poor, I am sorry to say.

Re: Slightly complicated address questions

My advice would be to file the AR-11. It does not cost anything and it creates a paper trail. Having just had my AOS interview I can tell you that paper trails are what the interviewers are looking...
