Exactly, I dont mind if my wife visits the Spa, massage etc etc, she assures me it is only QR20 a visit, so whats the problem? I believe a Starbucks can cost more than that!!

Booklet said easy on XP, just use the .

I have now done this,put the Maxtor directly inside the computer. I have also a copy of Hiren's BootCD, but the same happens as it did with ultimatebootcd that Bob recommended to try, that is a DOS...

All else has failed so I am going to try and do this. I do not understand the bit about 'HDD regenerator off Hiren's BootCD', what is this? Can I skip this part and the computer...

.................. so far so good. Managed to burn a bootable CD using Nero with ultimatebootcd ISO file.

Computer booted up using the CD OK.

It left the screen in DOS mode with the prompt:

Yes, it is looking more likely that I might have to resort to something more 'mechanical', Bob suggested something similiar.
I will try this 'ultimateboot CD first and see how I get on.

Hi Bob, thanks for that.

I changed the boot up sequence as you said.

But boots up as usual, though I notice that it does read the CD drive as the light blinks during boot up.

So the fault...

I tried to boot up with CD in hoping to get the 'ultimatebootcd' tools up. But obviously it is not reading the CD drive, just the floppy first, so booted up as normal.

How do I adjust to boot up...

OK, managed this on 2nd attempt. Downloaded file, then extracted files to 'C' drive (about 140mb worth) then copied them to a CD. Plan to try and boot up then 'crack' into the Maxtor tonight after...
