U Haul---- any alternatives, suggestions small move from Ont to NS

As depicted moving the contents of a one room apt from Toronto (mid town) to NS. A moving company has quoted $1200 - $1500 + HST :(

Its in Nova Scotia, and yes I know its about the insulation---------I didn't want somebody to tell me to insulate the house first!!!
