Re: What are you watching right now?

I am currently watching "Ridley Road" on PBS Masterpiece. It's about London on the early 60s. It's based on a novel but was inspired by true events. Enjoyable.

Re: RAY’S 2022 OBIT THREAD

I haven't seen "Blade Runner" but loved "Chariots of Fire" - also loved the music.

Re: 2022 US Mid-terms

Wooster is a nice little college town about 90 minutes south of here. My daughter's friend graduated from the College of Wooster. I have only been there one time - for my daughter's friend's wedding....

Re: 2022 US Mid-terms

I read the book shortly after Trump got elected. I guess I was intrigued. I wanted to know why these poor, white, working class voters were drawn to Tump. It was an interesting book, well written....

Re: 2022 US Mid-terms

Yes - you are correct - Sherrod Brown is very popular here in Ohio. I am hopeful that Tim Ryan can win. Unfortunately you will always get Republicans who will vote for a Trump endorsement candidate...

Re: 2022 US Mid-terms

Yes - lots of Trump supporters here in Ohio! Ohio used to be known as the "bell weather" state and it always picked the president. It truly was a purple state. Now it is red and the candidate Trump...

Re: Beyond Bloody Sunday - NI Politics

I cannot say that I am surprised. I expected as much from them. The DUP remind me of the "Trumpers" in this country who would not (and still do not) accept the result of the 2020 presidential...

Re: RAY’S 2022 OBIT THREAD

Oh no - so sorry to hear that! I loved Dennis Waterman - in fact I had recently been watching him on "New Tricks" on Britbox. RIP Dennis.

Re: Beyond Bloody Sunday - NI Politics

We are all influenced by our background/childhood. I grew up in a Protestant neighborhood in Derry/Londonderry. Protestants are the majority in Northern Ireland but have always been in the minority...

Re: Beyond Bloody Sunday - NI Politics

The Alliance party did well - I know my brother (who still lives in Derry) voted for them. I just hope that the DUP take their seats at the table and they can have a viable assembly that will get...

Re: What are you watching right now?

I watched "Anatomy of a Scandal" too. It was okay - reasonably entertaining, although rather far fetched. I don't think I would pay for Netflix (using my Christmas gift card right now). I prefer...

Re: What are you watching right now?

I just checked Netflix - it's not available here yet. Netflix doesn't have a date - I assume that is the platform is will be streaming on.

Re: What are you watching right now?

Yea! I've been waiting for that! The language is dreadful but it is so funny! I think anyone watching it here in the US would need to use the subtitles!

Re: What are you watching right now?

I just started watching "Servant of the People" on Netflix starring Ukrainian President Zelenskiy when he was an actor/comedian. It's quite funny actually. I was intrigued and thought I would give it...

Re: 2022 Movie Thread

I just spent a snowy afternoon here watching "The Railway Man" on Netflix. Based on a true story. I think it was made back in 2013 (Colin Firth and Nicole Kidman). Some scenes were hard to watch but...

Re: Dougal03's views on UK after returning

I wouldn't consider myself a deserter - I choose to leave - albeit following my husband (now ex-husband) here for a job. That said - I will always consider the UK my home and renew my British...
