Re: Compassionate Leave COVID

So glad you’ve got your permission to leave. I hope, while you are there you can put some contingency plans into action - check out assisted living options perhaps - even if you can’t get them to...

Re: Greetings From A New Member

First things first - can you get a visa? Accountants are always mooted to be on the verge of being dropped off the list of skills and apparently you need a very high point score to get an invitation...

Re: Is an Agent worth the money??

That rather depends on how complicated your visa might be. If you’ve been happily married to an Aussie for 20 years and have a couple of Aussie kids and just want a spouse visa then nope don’t bother...

Re: Moving to Aus advice

Unless you’ve got millions to invest in Australia then from what you’ve written it’d be hard to find your qualification/skill/experience on the skills wanted list I would think, but talk to an agent....

Re: Travel

Re: Coronavirus - how's everyone doing?

Had a Corona test yesterday - not that I thought I had it, just a sore throat and cough (kindly shared by small granddaughter who had had a cold last week). Must say I was impressed by the drive...

Re: Best Option For Childs Citizenship

no, the best option is to sort it out before you go. It doesn’t take long and far better for the bub to fly in as a citizen than on a tourist visa (would you lie about your intentions to stay?) and...

Re: Best Option For Childs Citizenship

These are Covid times, you probably wouldn’t get either flight or exemption in 2 weeks and that’s before an expensive quarantine. At least you will be able to get citizen By descent quite easily.

Re: Emigrating with an auto immune disease

Are your skills on the list? Cant say that I have ever heard of a Learning Disabilities Nurse - is she a degree trained nurse with general practice?

The Call

Over the years I've seen many posts from folk, living in Australia, who got The Call. I thought I could handle it - after all, I just spent the best part of the past 9 years in UK caring for mum and...

Re: 747: Over and out

They do say that when your DC3 comes to the end of its days you need a new DC3! They were just being phased out by the Fokker Friendships up in PNG when I lived there but have been on them several...

Re: 747: Over and out

Funny, I can remember the first one coming into service and seeing it fly over London into Heathrow - I missed the last Qantas one flying out of Canberra the other day. There are probably a few 707s...

Re: UK to Melbourne with Year 10 kid

My niece is a paramedic in Victoria - she'd say much the same about ice too I think as quite a few of her clients are either victims or users. She obviously talks to her dad - a very sensible chap,...

Re: Separated parents, one emigrating

No, of course you dont have to justify your reasons but I am not sure it is going to be the plain sailing you think it will be - yes, courts grant orders but generally the move will have been proved...

Re: Separated parents, one emigrating

I wouldnt bank on getting a visa being a teacher - what level? Did you do a 4 year degree? It might be a moot point. If your child has a close contact with his dad then you might want to think about...
