2022 Visa changes so far?

I've heard that some categories are opening up again, but haven't seen the usual very useful Readme.

Re: House prices over 40 years

I've grumbled before how unaffordable NZ housing is becoming.
Yes, UK house prices are strong but they are trailing NZ house prices by more each year.

Re: Providing aid to Ukraine

Not sure what this means.

If, for example, China invaded NZ South Island and occupied everything south of Christchurch would you be in favour of the rest of the world sending only humanitarian aid...

Re: Renewing a UK passport

Just noting that there are continuing problems with delivery of new passports in the UK.
The service has been outsourced and it is proving difficult to track where the missing/delayed passports are....

Re: Driver Licence Classes

So does the average person who wants to hire a trailer from Bunnings to shift some gravel need a Class 3 or 5?
If so, do most people have one?

I started looking this up but ended up confused.

Re: Parent retirement resident visa

Adding that as far as I know the Parent Category is in limbo until immigration opens up again.
At that point we should know what the new rules are.
The rules seem to change each time they restart...

Re: Flying from UK to NZ with 2 young children

A good while since I've flown but they seem to put families on the front row where there is more room and the kids can sit in front of the seats without blocking anyone.

Re: Where to live?

Bringing home how much has changed over the years.
When we first looked at moving in the late 1980s our house was about £200k (short term housing boom) and there were $4 to £1.
So around $800k...

Re: Protesters in Wellington

Protesting is fine, generally.

As with elsewhere in the world, ruining the day to day lives of innocent residents isn't fair or reasonable.

Re: Where to live?

A cheeky question and please don't feel obliged to answer, but about how much is a few hectares these days?
Obviously, depends on location!

Just getting increasingly depressed watching NZ house...

Re: Easing of travel requirements in 2022

We will start tentative planning for a holiday starting around November 2022.
Hopefully everything will have settled down by then.

Re: I think I've made a mistake

Earthquakes.
What exactly are you worried about?
I assume personal injury is top of the list?
As far as I know if you steer clear of the Christchurch area you have very little to worry about.

Re: Easing of travel requirements in 2022

Noting that daily infections are massively up.
There is usually a lag between infection and hospitalisation.
Then another lag between hospitalisation and death.
So we won't get a clear picture for...

Re: Easing of travel requirements in 2022

Consider, of course, that if 100 people catch Delta and one dies, this is possibly less serious that if 10,000 catch Omicron and ten die.
Deaths per infection may be lower, but total deaths (and...

Re: Easing of travel requirements in 2022

Thank you for the kind thoughts.
We are hoping to be able to come to NZ for Xmas 2022 but we need quite a lot of good luck on the pandemic front for travel to be open then.

Absolutely no idea...

Re: Coronavirus

Still far better off than the UK.
We are the world leader in infections.

39,851 new cases reported today.
143 deaths.
6,836 in hospital.

Roughly divide by 10 (I think) to allow for...

Re: Coronavirus

Come on peeps, try and get the borders open before next winter!
Lifting restrictions in March 2022 is the wrong time of year for us UK based people.
