Re: Citizenship Application Timeline

Usually they don't send out the invite/instructions until a couple of weeks before the ceremony. I got mine exactly 2 weeks beforehand.

Re: Quarantine for COVID 19 discussions.

You mean in Ontario there's no social life due to lockdowns, in BC (at least) the situation is very different.

Re: ACRO No Live Trace

I think the point the OP is trying to make below is that they are at the stage where they can file the DS-260.

Re: Conflicting minds with moving to Canada 🇨🇦

There's a few posters in this forum who had hesitant spouses before moving to Canada and, sadly, it never seems to work out.

Re: First time property buyer in Canada - Tax exemption query

The tax exemption tops out at $500k anyway and depending on where you are in the LM, your budget may be well above that.

In addition to Home Buyers Amount, you can also use the Home Buyers Plan...

Re: Career change from 9-5 to something else

If you are interested in expanding your skills then you could try and get a couple of the AWS certs and then go work for one of the AWS MSPs (there's a couple of big ones in Toronto) or even AWS...

Re: Questions on Canadian immigration

1. You need IETLS to enter the pool for Express Entry so that's a non-runner.
2. Part of applying to PNP is that you intend to settle in that province, so applying to multiple provinces may result...

I was browsing the FAQ for IEC for an unrelated reason and came across this

Re: 2020 Election

It varies from state to state. Most allow in-person voting on election day, some require you to bring the ballot that was mailed to you so it can be destroyed, some will only allow you to cast a...

Re: 2020 Election

I wouldn't say that in-person voting is dummy proof in all parts of the US. Look at what happened in 2000 in Miami-Dade county with their chads.

Re: 2020 Election

I think there's a good chance the call will be made on 3rd, it really comes to down to who wins Florida. If Biden wins Florida, Trump is pretty much done. Not quite the same for Biden, he can still...

Re: PR Renewal & Citizenship Application

In my view it's always better to have a valid PR card, just in case. It's only $50 + photos + postage and is worth it for piece of mind just in case (despite intentions) you have to travel outside of...

Re: PR Renewal & Citizenship Application

Citizenship applications are badly backlogged because they haven't had any citizenship tests since March. I would say that anyone applying today is probably going to be in for a 18-24 month wait. So...

Re: Are we too old?

Your main problem is at 49 you get 0 points for age and the only way to make those points up is with Canadian experience or a Provincial nomination. Already having a job is actually a hindrance in...

Re: MSP coverage when changing visas

I'm confused. Under Express Entry you shouldn't complete the medical until you have been selected from the pool. You don't need a medical to be in the pool and doing it earlier risks the medical...

Re: US Election 2020 - Predictions

There are not many undecideds left compared to previous years (is my understanding) and if the polls are accurate then Trump needs them more than Biden. It's hard to see how any undecided voters...
