Yep - I can log on, enter the 12 character gov id in there then get asked NI number and DOB - all good. Then a screen that says they cant identify me and need more info like passport info or credit...

Anyone found a way to use the UK Government Gateway without a UK address. I've set my ID up etc but part of the profile set up asks for a UK address. Like a lot of people here I don't have one so now...

Thanks ianandhelena. So really - by that calculation just doing the 2 years would only add a fiver a week ...may not be that worth it. Unless I've misunderstood the calculation of course.

Got it mrken30 and Durham lad - of course no FBAR, what was I thinking! As you say with the treaties I guess you'd only end up paying tax in 1 country.

I'd also have no earned income on returning...

If I move back to the UK as a US citizen I think I can keep any existing Roth and investment accounts as long as you report them via FBAR etc, with no extra tax payable if your total income is below...

Oh. I thought if you relinquished your LPR status by permanently moving out of the US (More than 6 months) you’re also relinquishing rights to US benefits unless you fill in documentation that...
