I came to Canada in 2007 and although my LMO was valid for 3 years the nice person at the airport would only give me a 1 year WP. I was told that I could renew the WP later to cover the full 3 years....

I had a similar problem with an alarm clock from Wallmart. Simple solution. Go and buy another one with cash and a few days later return the old one, in the new box, for a full refund.

I exchanged my UK license in Ontario and they only wanted the photo card. I don't think the person knew about the paper part. I would try again at a different office.

I don't think you will be able to buy and register a car in Ontario. You will need a Canadian driving license before you can register ownership.

I know that you need to take a test in Nova Scotia. It is not that hard you just need to know the Canadian driving laws. The good thing about taking the test is that you do not surrender your UK...
