Re: Experience public health care

Thank you. Well, we often hear of the same kinds of problems caused by local officials interpreting regulations in highly "individual" ways here in Spain, and it is impossible to argue with them. I...

Re: Experience public health care

Thank you, yes it is, and even more so for her husband (who was with her at the time of the accident) and sons who flew over from England immediately they were told about it, could only get a flight...

Re: Experience public health care

Thank you. Of course. she may not have survived whatever they did, but you always ask yourself these "what if" questions, don't you?

Re: Experience public health care

I don't dispute that. But your original statement "that would not happen in Spain or France, where you would wait for 6 or 8 hours", is just not true, is it, as it gives the impression that services...

Re: Experience public health care

I live in the Axarquia region of Andalucia, and your statement in no way matches my experience. In May, having experienced severe pain in his side over a weekend, my husband went online to book an...

Re: House types

I live in a large town and quite a lot of townhouses do have very large garages on the ground floor with the living accommodation above, like the one in your picture. The garage floors are...

Re: President Trump

Isn't that one of Trump's favourite responses when he has been shown to be talking complete rubbish? "Well, that's what I was told".

Re: President Trump

Some people in the UK who can afford it have always opted for private health insurance. That's why private hospitals exist at all in the UK. By the way, none of them offer emergency care nor do they...

Re: President Trump

[QUOTE=spouse of scouse;12760825]Yes doctors routinely make home visits, at least in the area I lived in. It's not just the person is too sick to go to hospital, they do home visits for people who...

Re: President Trump

If you are now 80 years old, then it must have been quite some time ago that your 74 year old father had to wait five years for knee surgery, therefore your comment is not relevant to the present day...

Re: Tories in chaos

This could well be the last time I get to vote in a UK General Election unless the 15 year rule is abolished. My inclination (as a lifelong Labour voter) would be to vote Lib Dem this time, but a Lib...

Re: Cash a U.K. cheque in Spain

I think it's ridiculous that HMRC still insist on sending cheques to overseas residents who claim tax rebates. When the cheque I'd posted back to my UK bank for paying in went missing, I rang them...

Re: Cash a U.K. cheque in Spain

I didn't think it was possible for someone to pay a cheque into their account which isn't made payable to them, any more - not since all cheques started having A/c payee only printed on them. Many...

Re: Cash a U.K. cheque in Spain

I have, in the past, posted sterling cheques to my bank in the UK (First Direct) with a completed paying-in slip and a covering letter asking for them to be paid into my account. Usually it has...

Re: Meghan Markle's sin is being an American that stole Prince Harry?

It's not being American which makes her behave in a way which a lot of the British public find distasteful. Meghan's mother is American and seems to be generally admired in the UK for the way in...

Re: Meghan Markle's sin is being an American that stole Prince Harry?

The "other couple" (and their families) don't behave in the same way. The Duchess of Cambridge's family have never given interviews of any kind to the press, unlike the Duchess of Sussex's...

Re: Sabadell Expansion Account -Introduction of Monthly Charge

There are quite a few comments on Spanish websites from unimpressed Spanish customers about this new charge, for example:-

I agree, they are...

Smile Re: What has p*ssed you off today...part II

Funnily enough, that's exactly what my husband used to tell everybody. His UK credit card provider has been infinitely more helpful in getting these issues resolved in his favour than PayPal were.
