Yes, what I'm trying to establish is if you can get an EAD so you can start a job while the green card is being processed, after it has been approved.

We actually DO love the ocean, but don't want a horrid commute, so that's something to think about. East bay does sound a horrible...

Yeah, I wish they'd try EB1 too but looks like it's just NIW. I think he'd have a reasonable case, but what do I know?! Looks like we are in for a long wait. :(
