Re: IR-1 / CR-1 timing

To follow up:

To the surprise of absolutely nobody, my green card arrived exactly 3 weeks after I arrived in the US with the (incorrect) CR1 category, even though I saw the officer at the PoE...

Re: UKCs: What was your first job stateside?

Hahaha, sounds about right

Totally depends on the bar. The minimum wage for servers is only around a couple of bucks an hour (depending on the state). The upside is that everyone knows...

Re: UKCs: What was your first job stateside?

I arrived in Lexington, KY just under 3 weeks ago. I just got my PhD a couple of months ago but all the jobs I want are university level teaching/research jobs that don't start until next September. ...

Re: Entering US for first time- process?

Absolutely positive. They sent everyone through the additional security point and then after that were different routes for transfers or for leaving the airport.

Re: Entering US for first time- process?

Dublin's a bit of a special case. Certain flights from Dublin to the USA do send you through immigration on the Dublin side. As far as I'm aware, nowhere else does.

Assuming you're not going...

Re: I-130 Petition - $420 Fee

No, which is why I said depending on the circumstances. Credit cards are accepted in London and it appears that Martin will have his I-130 filed in London.

Re: I-130 Petition - $420 Fee

I don't think that's true... depending on the circumstances. I (the UKC) paid for the I-130 on my credit card with no issues.

Re: Amazon customer service

Always found Amazon (UK) to be brilliant in general. Only time I had to call the customer service was when I sat on my kindle (I know). Rather dishonestly told them it had been in my bag with a load...

Re: K-1 Visa: Medical & Financial Topics

Firstly, there's very little that can be done to expedite a K1 visa application, so a lawyer isn't going to help in that regard.

Secondly, 2 years is about 3 times as long as it should take to get...

Re: Basic Question

You'll be after an immigrant visa (http://britishexpats.com/wiki/DCF_I-130_Filed_In_London) then. If your wife has been legally resident in the UK for at least 6 months then you two can do the whole...

Hey MrsW. I think that's everything (from memory). You probably have way more than you need of some things, but better to be prepared. Just a couple of things:

Don't forget the interview...

Re: New Red Dwarf starts Thursday!

I'm actually pretty excited about this. It's supposed to be more like the early seasons (but then, don't they always say that). There's a few very short clips on Dave's website (www.joindave.co.uk...

Re: Which visa to go for?

Hi Cat,

Yes, the CR-1 is the classification of immigrant visa you're after. When you use that visa to enter the US, you'll be sent a green card. They're not 2 independent processes.

The short...
