Re: To get a Florida driving license, just what exactly do you need to do?

I took mine 9 years ago and can concur with the above - 40 questions and "test" round the plaza car park where the local DMV office is located. Took it within two weeks of arrival, in my own car...

Re: XE.com - getting slow?

I think mine have always taken about a week or so - I don't really have a need to do them urgently or regularly so no biggie.

As an aside, what I'm wondering though is does xe still have a...

Re: Oh god, not again..

I know exactly how you feel - exact same thing for me when my mum passed in January. Tragic event - but bringing people together and catching up is exactly what they'd have wanted.

Re: Visiting Cuba - US Visa Problems?

Before I came to the US, I visited Cuba a couple of times. There are loads of US citizens there....they either go via Mexico or Canada as a rule. The Cubans welcome US citizens and I was told on...

Re: Oil changes

I change the oil as per what it says in the book for a "Normal" schedule. This whole every 3k thing is complete barlicks, IMO. Of course all the oil change places will tell you that - the other...

Re: Internet Access / Providers in the US

Now that's one thing I will agree with you about...not just the guide but the workings of it. Just as I was leaving the old cable provider, they rolled out a new guide - and the best thing was on...

Re: Internet Access / Providers in the US

I reckon it must be localized Bob - wonder if its anything to do with reuse of existing infrastructure or something. When they first rolled out Fios down here they spent millions and caused chaos...

Re: Kids and tea drinking

Ice tea is a big thing down here - can't stand it myself, but kids grow up on it in the same way Brit kids grow up with hot tea.

My little almost 6 year old daughter also likes hot (well, warm)...

Re: Internet Access / Providers in the US

Have to say I'm very happy with Fios. Managed to get a special "Gamer" deal around Christmas time for 35/35 for the same package price as their basic 15/5 (in reality I get a steady 43 down/26 up). ...

Re: Moving funds from the US to the UK

As Ian said, by and large any established bank will be much of a muchness - they all follow the same patterns/protocols for money transfer; its the fee's that are important. As someone mentioned...

Re: Which is best-Passport or Registering Birth Abroad?

Correct and exactly what I do. But by the letter of the USCIS law you must enter and leave the US on the US passport.

Re: Which is best-Passport or Registering Birth Abroad?

Agree with Bob. Really no need for a UK passport unless planning to move there, but I think properly registering with the UK authorities (consular birth registration) is very worthwhile - what I did...

Re: Correct "Passport Shuffle" sequence when traveling to countries other than UK?

Thanks guys...was just wondering if there was any kind of correlation between carrier records and immigration, i.e. "How did you get here?" type thing. Going to the UK, being a dual national figured...

Correct "Passport Shuffle" sequence when traveling to countries other than UK?

All,

There is a possibility of a contract job for me in Hong Kong, duration about 4-5 months. As such, I'd like to enter HK on my Brit passport as it gives up to 180 days (whereas the US one is...

Re: Moving to Florida USA any help would be helpful

My best advice - don't tie yourself down buying a house. The job market down here in general is bloody awful, and even more so just now. And Hernando Beach area....not exactly an employment mecca -...
