Many US insurance companies do temporary health insurance which might be okay.

Otherwise you probably should go ahead and sign up for US health insurance from the wasington healthcare marketplace...

Not Nun but...

A) Voluntary contributions mean that the the pension is not earnings related and therefore not subject to WEP.

I think GPO is supposed to be US government pensions only. From their POMS manual:

SSA are assuming any pension pot withdrawal is a lump sum or a periodic payment. Basically they want everything taxed so I highly doubt we'll get away with not declaring.

Would that be the case if say you cash it out at 55 long before you take your social security? Since the foreign retirement account wouldn't exist any more?

I imagine most people with UK personal pensions would also qualify for a state uk pension and are likely to be subject to WEP even if they cash out the personal pensions so avoiding WEP doesn't have...

voluntary contributions are specifically excluded fron wep since they are by nature not related to work or earnings or whatever. The SSA has this listed as not wepable specfically as an example in...

I was thinking that a uk state pension based on class 2 national insurance might have a better chance of being non wep-able.

You shot yourself in the foot. 'Say you earn'.... you just based it on earnings. Say I earn 2k for 50 years. I get nothing. Yet I contributed for longer than both your examples. So no it is not...

No that would mean it is not specifically size of earnings related. It is still related to earnings as you have to earn something to get the NI credit. It doesn't have to be a linear relationship to...
