Re: UK Bank Acccounts

I used both Transferwise (TW) and CurrencyFair (CF) for a number of years, both were excellent, with transfers within a day at times by the end. Transferwise has a great advantage now having a debit...

Re: UK Bank Acccounts

Think it wise. I would look at getting a currencyfair account as well if they are still better for transferring amounts over circa £300 as they used to be. Neither used to cost you to have an account...

Re: Bank account in English

Perhaps a little off topic, but if you want to move larger amounts (or may do in the future) apart from checking the terms and conditions for their charges, it's worth checking their limits. A number...

Re: Residency before Brexit

Come on, not exactly a known abbreviation TCN:lol:? Third country national - I came up with American church, software and several others before finding it!

Re: Bank account in English

A tricky one. How many UK banks do you know that have an alternative language? Using a browser such as Google chrome or others with an extension for translation is easy. With most pages you wont even...

Re: UK Bank Acccounts

In the UK that would be something like going to the post office and paying a small cost. Notary there in Italy? Or will the Poste there do such?

Re: UK Bank Acccounts

I would have a look at Fineco here (https://finecobank.co.uk/public/banking/) (you may need the Italy site).

Re: UK Bank Acccounts

I really don't think it's a good idea to be saying where you bank folks. We in the past used Transferwise (no longer:lol:) and they were very good, but we also used CurrencyFair (again don't use...

Re: Brand new WA attestazione from your comune.

For some anything to do with travel is a hassle, just wish we had the choices we used to have.

Re: Brand new WA attestazione from your comune.

I think this sounds about right, but would think your ID card is valid for travel in Italy and would therefore expect would be accepted if an "exception" is indeed needed.

Re: Exchanging Italian Licence Back to UK One (one day)

I would have a look on the UK Gov site here (https://www.gov.uk/exchange-foreign-driving-licence). I'm sure the UK said they would recognise any EU licence regardless of any agreement, but the EU did...

Re: Overland Italy to UK

Not that I think anyone should really be traveling:o , but from what I've read most countries allow you to do so to get back to your country of residence. Hard times to make decisions, hopefully not...

Re: Overland Italy to UK

I would not trust any sensible view about getting home to the UK from Italy before Crimbo. All bets should be off regards what to expect and if you want/need to be back, do it sooner rather than...

Re: Private health insurance?

€5000 sounds an awful lot for ASL! There was a post on another forum recently where someone was saying they had been quoted €400/person by Generali. So perhaps it's not too far our at 380, which is...

Re: The Comfort Zone. Favourite food, drinks, where to buy, and recipes.

I think Brian is right, it's down to taste in answer to the OPs question on recipes. There are the obvious Lorna mentioned, but there will be others on the web. In Italy I've seen sausage, I assume...

Re: Tax Payback

If you stay in Italy (currently) more than 3 months you should be applying for residency. Sorry no idea how the tax system works, but you can bet it will be even more complex than dealing with HMRC!

Re: Move everything to Italy!

Most people I know who have moved UK stuff over to Italy regret doing so, but I understand if you have personal things you want with you. We decided we had to have a UK small base, hence no need to...

Re: UK income with Residency in Italy

As far as I’ve been able to ascertain it would work like this; UK calculate tax, Italy calculate both on gross earnings, then you pay the difference if there is any. The DTA is here...

Re: Tax Payback

I'm sure someone will be along shortly and confirm this. I doubt the Italian tax authority ever pay out, they simply give you a tax credit.
