Cool So long and all the best.

I suspect this'll dissapear from the front page of the RR forum in record time, but anyway...

Right, I'm done. This is my last post. <Sound of huge roar of cheering, shouts of "about time"...

Cool Re: The 1st thing u will do when you get back??

I bet there'll be loads more people killed by knives, guns, lawnmovers etc in the UK, same as every year, and the same as in every other country on the planet. Chances are though, me, or anyone else...

Cool Re: The 1st thing u will do when you get back??

No actually I'm just like you. I crap myself every time I read a report of a murder and instantly want to flee to another country like Australia where there are no murders ever. Then I like...

Thumbs down Re: The 1st thing u will do when you get back??

Yep, the evidence is there for all to see. Every single person in the UK will be stabbed to death at some point, and it's not possible to find similar bad news about any other country on the net.

Cool Re: Should I stay or should I go now...

Exactly. People who call the UK a dump are people whose lives there didn't quite turn out how they'd have liked, so they take their fustrations out by slagging the country, moaning about it on...

Cool Re: How long did it take for you to want to retuurn?

Is the protagonist from "V for Vendetta" your hero Hugh? Is that why you keep trying to talk like him? I'm not sure "Codename V" would have weaved something with the fabric of the English language so...

Cool Re: Naff things you will NOT miss when you're back in England

Convicts slag the UK off - people on this thread are slagging the big prison land of boredom off. What's the problem? Where's the world-famous, modest, excessively self-deprecating Aussie sense of...

Cool Re: Should I stay or should I go now...

Man that's terrible. I've not come across that but if I did, I'd be on the first plane to the US to live among people who are world-renowned for their grasp of geography.

Cool Re: Naff things you will NOT miss when you're back in England

Never understood that to be honest. English people listen to the convicts banging on about how fabulous Aus is, so they're encouraged to move there, and then when they see how crap it is, they...

Cool Re: Besides F&F, what is it you love about the UK??

Ditto. Anywhere else and I'm just on holiday. It's nice but after a while I've had enough and look forward to going home.

Cool Re: OK fess up. UKTV

New Top Gear is back on in a bit, if anyone's interested. Next week I think. Probably need to torrent it if you're in Aus and want to see it.

Cool Re: 4 years in Canada and going Home....my reflections

Imagine complaining about one town and using that as a thinly-disguised basis to whinge about the whole country. That would never do, eh Danny?

Cool Re: Private citizenship ceremony anyone?

Sounds like going through the Aussie citizenship ceremony is a bit like having a vasectomy, it's a bit too embarassing to talk about or admit to. I can understand that.

Post Re: Phases of Moving - Culture Shock

I think it's a bit rubbish to be honest:

At this stage the newcomer either gets stronger and stays, or gets weaker and goes home (physically, or only mentally).

Why is wanting to go back to to...

Think she means this whole, replying to every single line of a post and using "ROFL you are an idiot" type stuff. It's alright on alt.flame but on here it just looks like you've lost your temper and...

Within less than 2 minutes of each other these 2 posts. Must be some sort of hypocrisy demonstration speed typing record for BE.

Cool Re: American wanting to move to UK

Glad you liked it. It was a well balanced, honest post that wasn't full of lies, insults, racist rubbish and whinging. You should read it again and learn something.

Exclamation Re: Anyone Moved Back to the UK and regretted it?

No offence mate but all your posts just read like you're trying to convince yourself you're doing the right thing by chucking it all in and moving. It's a big step I know, but you'd be better off...

Cool Re: American wanting to move to UK

Trust a yank to end with an emotional, Oscar acceptance speech. Presumably the award was for "Worst Exhibition of Back-pedaling on BE, 2008".

Cool Re: American wanting to move to UK

I'm loathe to kick off again, (no, really, I am), but I can't contain my curiosity. This is a question directed at the yanks (plastic ones or proper ones) that have swooped on this thread like a SWAT...

All the best Colette - really hope you get what you're looking for. The UK isn't perfect and most Brits will happily admit it's short-comings (it's something we're honest and comfortable enough to...

Thumbs up Re: American wanting to move to UK

So we're getting shot of a moaning yank *and* his racist wife, all in one go? Great news! Drinks all round! Do you need a lift to the airport?
