Re: President Trump

The China travel "ban" is an odd one to me. Putting it in place in early Jan would have made some sense I think (although most Pandemic plans actually don;t recommend banning travel, which puzzles...

Re: how is online schooling going?

Mine is at home until December (by choice, although the School Board then pushed everyone home until September). It's a daily tip toe at the moment - sometimes it all goes well, other days the...

Re: CORONAVIRUS PART II

That particular chain has not been helped by it's owners very public crusades, and my general experience of them is that I'd avoid them during the current situation. There is certainly a decent...

Re: School Matters - Moving Teenager from UK to USA

We moved my daughter at age 16, straight after completing her GCSE's. The first 6 months was spent trying to get all the necessary credits sorted out and having her attend the courses at High School...

Re: President Trump

Georgia also tried a new one on me - they presented a chart earlier in the Pandemic that showed the highest date of infections to the left and then a sliding scale to the right of lower infection...

Re: Texas Driving License

The fact that the admin is harder than the tests is probably a bad sign - it is little wonder the car insurance rates are so high here.

Re: President Trump

To add another point on why Hospitalisations are not being used much - they are a lag indicator. By the time you see that data you are in trouble. I think some places are doing testing of sewage,...

Re: President Trump

Steerpike - the two sets of data being used are pretty poor examples of Data Visualisation. They tell a confused story - New Cases vs Deaths in the same week may be relevant if Death was pretty...

Re: CORONAVIRUS PART II

When talking about Risk and Mitigation, I feel this is a good place to pop a link in:

Clearly the risk of infection is low for each new individual...

Re: 2020 Election

Haha - it finishes off by saying they were looking for a bloody stolen motorcycle.

Re: Anyone recently got their Parole Card (I512/ employment authorization card)?

Re: CORONAVIRUS PART II

Given we no longer need to show each other that we are weapon free, shaking hands can die a quick death as well please.

Re: CORONAVIRUS PART II

I think the approach they are taking is that masks are law, you have to wear one to come in, if someone doesn't they are leaving actual enforcement to Police given it is a Police matter.

Re: CORONAVIRUS PART II

Sorry - posted before seeing the note on Politics, maybe delete my post and simply replace with - Wear a bloody mask and shut up?

Re: CORONAVIRUS PART II

Ah, the good ole days argument. The 90's, in the UK, was a time of utter freedom, like in 1990 itself when a brand new tax was imposed on very adult in the UK - the Community Charge. Or maybe you...

Re: CORONAVIRUS PART II

The masks have not done wonders in the USA because nobody was bloody wearing the things. Since even Republican Governors ended up bringing in mask mandates, or local cities if the Governor didn't...

Re: CORONAVIRUS PART II

Re: Anyone recently got their Parole Card (I512/ employment authorization card)?

I received ours about 2-3 weeks after the notification of Approval. Also had similar, sort of with Biometrics. I say sort of because we had gone to have them done before Covid kicked off, never...

Re: Post EU Referendum...Part II

And for clarity, as I am sure this will push to whatever my personal opinion is on the matter at some point, I have none, on either claim for independence. I'm not Scottish, or from Catalunya and as...

Re: Post EU Referendum...Part II

What does it have to do with the EU? The EU worries about it's members, not outside countries or internal regions of existing Member States. I was comparing the UK position on the EU with the UK's...

Re: Post EU Referendum...Part II

I'm surprised the EU hasn't just placed us on Ignore by now. The UK just needs to get the leaving bit over and done with, even if that's zero deal in place (for it's own sanity), then it can get...
