We have been out here near Lake Tisza since 2008 (my wife was 30 and I was 34) and we love it, life is certainly very different but very rewarding :)

Our village shop is superb, she is only open at stupid o'clock in the morning until 11 and then from 3 until about 6... But she will get in pretty much anything we ask for and always sets bread...

Big business does a lot of things that have short term negative economic impacts in order to forge a domineering position in the market place which to my mind reduces both economic and commercial...

Or even early 1990's Sunday trading wasn't fully permitted in England and Wales until 1994 and many places in Europe still have restrictions on Sunday opening hours. Germany does not seemed to have...

There are quite a few nice restaurants around the Tisza from Ároktő right the way down to Abádszalók although don't visit the North side of the lake very often. Wouldn't fancy...

Good luck to you, fruit and veg self sufficiency is possible on a relatively modest plot of land, we have a plot of 5,500m2 and have been largely self sufficient on fruit & veg for nigh on 7 years......
