In truth, I kind of know the answers to my own original questions. i.e. Plumbers in general can earn slightly higher, it is more of a recession proof trade etc.
I suppose I was more looking for in...

Re: Canadian trained Plumber, working in UK

Thanks for your reply. Do you know if it is a fairly straightforward process, or if there is any complications when doing this?
Also, are the skills and regulations similar or is there a...

Re: Cost of living? Help us settle this discussion!

No doubt about it. In my experience, overall cost of living is higher in Ontario than the UK. (I cant speak for other Canadian provinces)

And this isn't really based on UK vs Ontario, as there are...

Re: What is a decent salary?

I suppose basically, in my opinion Burlington would be nicer place to live compared to Kitchener.

Where would your husband be working? Commute times will be, or should be a big consideration

Re: What is a decent salary?

Yes that is a decent wage, and if it is to be topped up by your extra income you should be fine in regards to 'surviving'.
You would certainly get a bit more for your money in Kitchener, but there...

Re: Car hire in UK. Who to trust?

That's who I've eventually ended up booking with (green motion) It was a 3 step process though, Via Travelsupermarket.com -- argushire.com = GreenMotion.
I've had fairly decent responses from them...

Re: Car hire in UK. Who to trust?

So this is the reason for this thread.

Glasgow Airport's official website leads you (the user) onto a comparison page which is Rentalcars.com

One would naively presume they would be...

Re: Car hire in UK. Who to trust?

Hope this isn't a silly question. But when it is quoted as limited mileage (90 per day). Can this be calculated as overall?
i.e. an 8 day hire, as long as 720 miles is not exceeded?

Re: UK Motorbike Licence

Unfortunately you will. I was / am currently in the same position. My UK bike licence is not recognized here in Ontario. Quite strange why they 'swap' your car licence but not bike.
