Re: Foxes and Golden Jackals abound!

One morning this week when I went in the barn for kindling I found what looked like a dead woodpecker fledgling. It seemed like the wrong time of year for them to be having young but perhaps not. The...

Re: Croatian earthquake felt in Hungary

I did feel the previous one that did a lot of damage in Zagreb but I was not aware of this one until I read about it on Facebook. Makes me glad that my house has reinforced concrete ceilings.

Re: Poland, Greece, Bulgaria etc

Perhaps we could have an Eastern Europe forum that covered Poland, Bulgaria, Croatia etc? I notice the Hungary forum is less active than when I joined a few years ago. I suppose people are using...

Re: Living in Hungary - why?

I can be considered one of the failed expats with respect to Hungary as I sold up and moved to Croatia. In my case I wanted to relocate as a means of taking early retirement due to health problems. I...

Re: Snow tyres

I think if you have a set of chains you can do the trip with summer tyres. That is what I did when I first came househunting in my Vauxhall Combo van.

Re: Viewing properties

I think you will find there is normally more roof overhang than would be the case for a building with guttering, so the rainwater is being dumped a metre or so from the walls. It is still a pain if...

Re: TAJ card refused !

I avoided going to any doctors or dentists in Croatia for as long as I could but about 4 weeks ago I made the stupid mistake of lighting the solid fuel boiler for the first time after summer without...

Re: Viewing properties

Yes, if anyone is interested in living on the Croatia side of the Croatia / Hungary border there is such a derelict property for sale 2 doors from me at 1800 Euros. It is so overgrown you can't tell...

About to be ripped off!

It is about a year since I moved from Hungary to Croatia and for all that time I have had no access to doctors or medical help because of a paperwork problem. In Hungary I used to pay a monthly fee...

Re: Hungary-UK, man with a van or other suggestions

There is a chap called Simon Evans who seems to do regular runs between UK and Hungary. If you are on the Facebook group for BalatonBrits you can find him that way or I can pass on a message to him.

Re: TAJ card refused !

I have a similar problem but in Croatia, not Hungary. I moved to Hungary in 2011 and my income was from renting out my house in UK. I did get a TAJ card and paid into the Hungarian state health...

Re: how to return residence card taj

You need to go to the office that issued it as there are forms to sign. I was advised to post back my address and registration cards but they did nothing with them until I went to the office. In my...

Re: E104 Form

Thanks for the reply. I thought at first I had no software that could handle .doc files but I found a way and have printed a copy of the blank. I'm assuming it is filled in using the WP software...

Re: BBC Sounds app

Not heard about that but I did have to register and log in to BBC Sounds a couple of weeks ago. It asks for a postcode so it seems a halfhearted attempt to exclude listeners from outside UK. There...

Re: Looking for.... in Nemesvita (Balaton)

If you are not a member I suggest you also join the BalatonBrits as they have a lot of contacts for tradesmen etc. If you are on Facebook they have a group with over 400 members.
