Re: Overland UK to Italy

Excellent news and I hope it goes smoothly for you. I’m looking at Monday as a possibility but I’m still uncertain and still receiving mixed messages about Austria so I might have to wait a bit yet...

Re: Overland UK to Italy

I’m based in the north east, that’s why I go via Holland - much easier for me. The autobahn service stations in Germany charge 70 cents a time for the toilets but you can swap the wee ticket you get...

Re: Overland UK to Italy

haha, yes I’m with you on that one. My Mrs flies over and I get to do the grueller of a road trip.. I wouldn’t have it any other way though as I have a phobia about these Ryanair flying coffins..

Re: Overland UK to Italy

As far as I can tell from the info available on the Austrian embassy website the same situation applies, or will apply from the 16th June, to UK citizens transiting through without stopping. I could...

Re: Overland UK to Italy

P&O have hiked their prices have they..? That’s a good business move I’m sure given that they’ll likely have minimal demand at best... quite unbelievable really.. I was looking at DFDS prices for...

Re: Overland UK to Italy

Currently I’m looking at making the overland attempt on 16th June, but not via France or Switzerland. I think trying to navigate through France could still be very problematic with all the infantile...

Re: For my sanity

I'm watching the situation closely as I have to get over there asap too, and also by road. The ferry I take from North shields to Ijmuiden (Amsterdam) is still on temporary hold till at least 17th...

Re: Any lockdown relaxation in your area ?

Yes, there is that.... At least BA are still listing a twice weekly flight from Heathrow - Brindisi, and I believe Easyjet offer a flight from Bristol, so those two might be options if Ryanair does...

Re: Any lockdown relaxation in your area ?

My wife asked for a refund for her cancelled Ryanair flight and got vouchers. We've accepted them on the premise that they'll hopefully be used at some point this year, maybe in the autumn...

I...

Re: Any lockdown relaxation in your area ?

Thanks for that link. I had a quick look and suspect that my reasons for going probably wouldn't be considered as absolutely necessary - even if I might think they are, uncut weeds in 35 degree heat...

Re: Any lockdown relaxation in your area ?

Re: Caring for the land during lockdown..

Sounds like a nightmare. I guess the thieves must have left the live end lying in the field for someone to come along and step on it. Nasty way to go indeed.. Although they must have been pretty...

Caring for the land during lockdown..

By this time I'm starting to be quite worried about the state of my garden in Italy as I'm stuck here in England and can do nothing about it. I was just wondering what the position is at the moment...

Re: Grow it yourself

We do our olive pruning in Puglia at this time of year too. I'd intended to get 15 of my trees hard pruned this year but I doubt it'll happen now unless things change fast, which I doubt...

Re: Grow it yourself

I did wonder if anyone would be allowed to go out and work their individual plots of land. I guess it must be the same Italy-wide then with no one allowed out of their houses. I'm sitting here in...

Re: Grow it yourself

Yes the weeds are a nightmare and you have to battle them constantly to keep them down. I suspect that will be the case everywhere in Italy as the whole place is so lush. Depends where you are re...
