Re: Been home 5 weeks now

It took nearly a year to get Child Benefit sorted for our little 'un when we moved back to the UK. There were no end of complications and incompetency by the people in charge. I finally made a call...

Re: Aerial Booster/Distribution Cabling

I was in a store in the Philippines last week that sold multiple point distributor boxes for coaxial tv cable. I'd guess they are available everywhere.

Does your system mean each tv has to watch...

Re: NEWS OF THE WORLD--GONE

I remember being a pimply 16 year old and walking into a newsagents to try and buy my first copy of the Sun, just to see the titties. I was so nervous, convinced the young girl serving knew I was...

Re: Buying a property in Thailand

Well, when I read the "I trust him 110%" and "We are in a lifelong relationship" I really thought she meant it, but then I read she had not even MET the guy I damn near soiled myself laughing.

Re: Choosing where to live in the Philippines

Our new build faces east in the morning, and we have the two main bedrooms at the front, so we get the morning sun. We don't have windows on the sides of the house, for various reasons, so I fear...

Re: Yay or Nay

Some men might like grotesquely out of proportion arses like that, but I bet most don't.

And then there are the sad percentage who have only ever seen one arse in their life and any...

Re: Banking in the Philippines

I opened a Peso bank account at BDO in Angeles about six months ago without any problems. I'm just on a tourist visa as I come and go so often.

Re: Choosing where to live in the Philippines

Ours is very often over 5000 pesos, and we have 2 air-cons in the bedrooms only. There are five of us in the house and we don't have an electric cooker. That is more than we ever paid in the UK.

Re: in need of major advice!

Unless you have no money, then they will loan it to you. No freebies though, they want it back eventually.

Re: Choosing where to live in the Philippines

It depends on what you want to do really; live in another country, or simply make your own little slice of England in a warmer cheaper place.

We live in Angeles, and while it has a big ex-pat...

Re: in need of major advice!

You can't 'lose' your UK citizenship.

If push really comes to shove, you could ask the UK embassy to repatriate you, tell them you have strayed from the path due to bad advice, and can they help...

Re: Woman suing Aus Govt for not telling her about UAE laws

That'd be kind of ironic: get drugged and raped, then go to the cops about it and get busted for having drugs in her blood, and spend life in some turd world shytehole jail for it.

And just to...

Re: Man forecloses on Bank of America!

Re: Wannabe Expat here...

And I've also met a few who hated it, earning hardly subsistence wages, barely more than locals. You really have to do your homework, and don't accept a job just because it is the only one you can...

Re: Wannabe Expat here...

I looked for a job in Singapore when i ran out of funds backpacking. Didn't take long, spent two years working in a sailing marina, though I had no experience whatsoever with yachts.

Re: More of a vent than anything else I guess.

I am just about to do that on our HP laptop. It is four years old, but knackered, several keys have fallen off and the wife smote it a mighty blow one day, when it was just 'being an HP', and it now...

Oh dear, never thought I'd offended anybody that much. :o

Apologies to all if I offended, five weeks offshore on a small ship does tend to change ones perspectives a little.

Now I am home...

Re: "..on the verge pof a great, great depression..."

"Every person in Britain could owe up to £43,567 or even more in credit " said experts today.
