Re: Internations

Complete waste of time, and not a very nice organisation. The people that run it are bureaucrats and petty rule-followers (refused to allow me off paying another 6 months because I was 1 day late...

Re: Job in Abu Dhabi Investment Authority

Yes P3 is good. VP equates to P2 or P3. A P4 would be a D or junior MD at Deutsche.

Your agent can give you details on the package. It's generous - but dont expect the huge uplifts of the old...

Re: Emirates offer

Seems OK to me. Depends whether you are working too. If it's the 2nd income then take it. 38k a month is a big stack of cash and will pay for your holidays & brunches + car several times over.

Re: Customs duty into EU for own goods

All sorted. Customs asked for a copy of the flight booking and passport. Once they got that they released it without charge.

Customs duty into EU for own goods

My brother came to visit us in the UAE last week. Left his phone in my house and didn't realise until he got to the aiport.

It was too late, so I sent it to him via DHL. Now German customs is...

Re: Watch UK TV for free please

Still works for me. Not always. Like not this week. But it works more than most.

Best to have vpn and non vpn router both running. When the vpn isn't working just download from kodi instead using...

Re: Flights to Dubai from London

Check Abu Dhabi too. Often cheaper. Only 1.5 hrs away and free transfer to Dubai if you fly Etihad

Re: Brexshit

That's not how I interpreted it. Peter Oborne is as against the EU as he ever was, but is saying that there's a danger now in making a really bad deal because of complete Brexit fatigue. He wants a...

Re: Looking to relocate to Dubai for a few years

You're making a great salary in London so could choose to save money if you wanted to.

Jobs market here is tough at the moment. If you really want to do it then look for jobs on LinkedIn and the...

Re: Brexshit

As a Leaver, I find it all infinitely depressing. After the vote on June 23rd 2016 I was so excited and optimistic for the future of the UK. Never did I think that the machine of government, the...

Re: Best way to ‘manage’ tax code when moving to oman

Because he said he'll still be receiving pay in the UK of 5 k / month till June. He'll be being taxed PAYE on that on the assunption that he will be earning 5k/month all year, so will need to claim...

Re: Best way to ‘manage’ tax code when moving to oman

Forgot to mention. You will be overcharged on your tax in the UK this year because it is done pro-rata. You could change tax code I guess, but easier is just ignore it and then fill in a tax return...

Re: Best way to ‘manage’ tax code when moving to oman

There's actually nothing you need to do at all, so tell the expensive accountant thanks but no thanks.

You don't need to tell HMRC you are leaving and becoming non-resident. You can if you like,...

Re: Multiple packages per family + Primary Teacher packages

Depends on your company. Mine doesn't allow you to have company housing if you already get it from your wife, but they will pay you the full housing allowance in cash instead (which is perfect of...

Re: IPTV

I'd say put the VPN on the Router itself. Keep another old router plugged in that isnt on VPN. That way you can connect to the normal router most of the time for your phone etc (it's quicker), and...

Re: How much should I pay our new maid?

If every maid that was doing some extra cleaning and baby sitting on her days off got into bother, there would be none left in the country.

How much should I pay our new maid?

We have a lady who comes and looks after our 2 young kids for half a day every day (12pm-6pm), so my wife can enjoy some free time and abuse my credit card... The maid is on her "own visa" and has...

Re: Sheikh Mo's daughter failed escape plot

Did anyone see the BBC 2 documentary on this that was on earlier this week?

I've not had a chance yet, but it must have caused some ruffles here as they quickly issued a notice about her being...

Re: F1-Du Arena

Guns and Roses were awful! Such a shame as I was really looking forward to seeing them live.

The whole set was B-sides, long guitar rifs, and stuff that nobody had heard of. Looking around me...

Re: The EU after Brexit

This deal (which isn't even a deal but an agreement to seek a deal in the next 2 years) seems to offer most of the downsides of being in the EU without any formal representation.

My reasons for...

Re: The EU after Brexit

I think the political union is a doomed project long-term, which is one of the (many) reasons I voted for Brexit. It could survive a lot longer (a la Yugoslavia) but in the medium term I can't see...

Re: Watch UK TV for free please

I disagree. Nearly all the services are blocked. There's a big market of paying customers in the Middle East and the vpn providers are constantly trying to evade the blocks with new DNS servers,...
