In addition to the 30% withheld for tax, as you are under 59.5, there will also be a 10% penalty for early withdrawal from your IRA. You may get some refund of the 30% that is withheld for taxes...

I mailed ours about 2/3 weeks ago, so will keep you informed. When I called I was advised they were very busy and had a back log but implied that we should hear back before the end of the UK tax...

We did explore this option but have found it impossible to get a mortgage in the UK for a UK buy to let. Of course if you are a cash buyer it may be a different story.

Definitely agree with trying AIG Travelguard. It was significantly cheaper for us and we are still with them 5 years later as even after shopping around we havent been able to find cheaper.
